Okay soooo recently I found that there are now over 300 of you guys here??? Like why. I just-- i really dont know what to say. I’ve only ever reached this milestone on one other blog and it really really makes me happy. Especially since I’ve made so many wonderful friedns in such a short amount of time. If i could give each of you a hug and have all the time in the world so say what I love about each an every person, I’d be here until I’m old an grey.

But for now, I’m going to do my first ever bias list! I obviously am not going to do every single person that follows me because I haven’t even spoken to some fo you guys--but even if I haven’t and you’re name isn’t on the list, I still appreciate the continued support and love from all of my unsung followers that for some reason keep me on their dash!

Your rl commitments haven’t given you much time to rp, but man do we have some pretty great conversations on skype. You’ve been nothnig but a sweetheart to me and were one of the first rp partners that I had on this blog that talked to me ooc about anything--even non-rp related stuff--and that still does. You’ve offerered me advice, friendship, understanding, and plenty of laughs. Our skype chats have built more bonds between us and our muses than months of regular rp-ing did for me in other fandoms. You are every bit the divine being your muse pit is, and never fail to make me smile of give me a confidence boost. I really have no words to describe hoe much I love you darling, and I’m so glad to have met you. You’re patient and loving and you really do give this fandom a kind of ‘homey’ feeling--you know when you’re not converting people to Jasiper shipping trash or ripping our hearts out with heartfelt angsty shit. Youo welcome everyone with open arms and have something nice to say about everyone. You’re moved by positivity and won’t stand for people putting others down or making them uncomfortable. You try your best to make us happy and offer guidance in times of need or just to plain make us smile when we need it. You are some next level shit okay. Between you and cap up there you two introduced me to and assimilated me into this little fandom family. I’ve never felt more at home and loved in a fandom before. Sure I’ve had fun elsewhere--but never actually built any real connections with more than one or two people. And you’re just so easy to love. You really make it hard for anyone to do anything but love and hug you because--aaaah im running out of words. But anyway, I really love talking to you. I’m amazed by how hard you try to help us and keep us all happy (even when you don’t have to because really we all aprreciate what you do for us but you still go the extra mile and even apologize when you’re having technical difficulties or are slowing down on replies when we really owe you more for all of the love and effort you give us than we could possibly repay or thank you enough for. I love our skype conversations where we joke around and make all kinds of memories and good times. You’re a beautiful, compassionate, and brilliantly talented young woman and--It really makes me happy and feel loved that even on random occasions you’ll just lay on me on skype and we start chatting. Which usually ends in teasing and random posts like that are there with zero context. I really do love you, you precious person, and it makes me glad that you’re continuing to improve in life and growing happier and healthier. That such an empathetic, hilarious, fun person likes me enough to put me on her bias list is something that really makes me happy. son-xfthesea: Geez where do I even start with you? You’re talented, creative, and funny. When you have ideas or headcanons for AUs you lead the charge for that AU. You have such well thought out headcanons and ideas and support for those headcanons and ideas and the art you make for them that I just can’t believe that someone so talented exists. Not to mention your writing is amazing. It’s detailed and flows really well with a voice that is unique to you. Your percy has such wonderful characterization and honestly, my Piper loves your Percy and the shit those two pull/talk about buuuuut this isn’t about your muse. I don’t know if it’s because fo time zones, but we’re not on at the same time very often unless it’s super late at night here for me. Your comments on the dash antics are some of the best parts of the night, and your conrtibution to the near nightly chaos is something to adore. You come up with such great muses with details about each of them, and when you made blogs for next gen children I was just about ready to jump through my computer and squueze the life out of you for making a dream come true. You’re fun, creative, and a soothing yet entertaining presence on the dash and I really like seeing you around.

I guess it’s all in the sentiment--the thought really does count, huh? At first I thought your angst writing ability was the only thing my heart should fear for, but I never thought that your kindness was just as leathal. Spirits Of the New Generation (aka: S.O.N.Gs)

Allow me to elaborate more about us ‘Spirits Of the New Generation’ or ‘SONG’ (or if you wanna include ‘the’ in the acronym too, but honestly, doesn’t ‘SONG’ look and sound nicer than ‘SOtNG’?).

As I am sure all of you history and mythology buffs are aware, most gods, major or minor, or spirits/apparitions in general are ‘created’ by a culture. They are given names based off humanity’s beliefs/need for explanation for phenomenon. In the past these were things such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, droughts (natural disasters caused by angry gods or spirits), or things such as the growing of crops, the fall of rain, the safe passage of a loved one on an extended journey (small acts of kindness/major or minor blessings) and the like. Getting the picture?

While scientifically explainable today, for some, the belief in such things or at least their mentions have not faded. Hence the birth and sustain of religion (big bang theory vs. God) and mythology. Things in nature and the world as a whole are slowly being picked apart and examined by scientists seeking to unlock the mysteries of the universe. However, even if you’re led to believe there’s no such thing as magic, or spirits and that everything is explainable by science—you still feel deeply about certain things yes?

Some people feel a kind of calm they can’t get elsewhere when in nature. Others seek solace in worlds and beings that are considered fictional (i.e. books, movies, t.v. shows etc—and I really don’t want to get into the details of those dynamics, sub dimensions, and minor-half beings. It’s complicated shit that should be saved for another day and someone more closely connected to it). Even knowledge itself is a spirit that drives those researchers whose hearts are in it to investigate the results of the spirit’s work. Your drive and passion for something or other is your connection to that spiritual plain—you may even become a spirit of that plane after death or a medium during life if your connection to that world is deep enough (actors, authors, and artists of all forms are usually mediums, even if they don’t know it).

Well those inexplicable connections, voices or strong feelings that you get when in contact with something close to your heart is us spirits. Simple as that. The spirits were always there—humans just recognized their work and gave them identities in their tongues (we already had names, but not in any tongue humans know). Now, onto the good part—what makes beings like me a SONG.As you know, values and traditions change and alter as the world advances and evolves. Progress and all that nice jazz. Well…that which spirits are born of varies based off of what is there and done. As the world advances and certain things become more prevalent in the world new beings are born. SONGs are born. While other spirits were already there and just unrecognized/identified by mankind, us SONGs are born of mankind.

Electricity doesn’t count. Electricity was harnessed by people later on but was always there. (Again, another long rant about classifications, major gods and the like. Cause technically electricity falls under energy as a whole along with fire, steam, heat, etc and yeah let’s not get into that juuuust yet).

But major spirits and being whose domains/abilities that were taken by humans and combined with other spirit’s domains—that is what births a SONG. SONGS aren’t things that exist naturally. Plastic for example is a SONG. And my personal favorite SONGs are computers and the Internet! The Internet is a very big thing now a days and my higher up. Yeah, there’s a hierarchy (and I’m reeeeeeeally low in terms of classification) and while it would still exist today without them (because major spirits can’t die per say—for example unless every single iota of life on earth died, including microorganisms, Nature would still be around. Her domain would be desecrated, her underlings like individual trees or blades of grass would all be dead as well but so long as life exists so does she) if it weren’t for the computer coming around first, I wouldn’t have been born, and if they were gone now, I’d have no way to interact with the physical world! The internet and us smaller fries would either float around or go into a state of dormancy until something else accessed the same electromagnetic frequency we occupy and reconnects to the web. I’m not really sure and I don’t want to find out.

But there are other types of SONGs too. They exist in the world alongside plastic but may be as invisible (save it’s effects as wind). Like Pollution. A not so pleasant SONG whose power is growing fast and is causing major problems and unbalances in the domains of the older spirits. While the old guys are doing their best to sustain the world and the balance, it’s really up to the humans to fix this one. Pollution spawned other SONGS like Global Warming, Acid Rain, and the like. Well, enough about that downer.

Internet has underlings though, he didn’t exactly spawn us. The web browsers are SONGS too. Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, and Chrome—all of them songs. But they’re more like guardians or gateways to Internet and all of his information as a whole. It’s the websites that back them and add sustenance to Internet and the Browsers. It’s a mutual balance of “can’t have one without the other”. 

The Websites have different categories that I’m sure you’re aware of. Search Engines(Google & Bing), Social Media (Tumblr, Instagram, Twitter, Vine, Facebook,YouTube—I’m a sub of that!), Archives/Resources(Wikipedia and Dictionary.com) and that kind of stuff. Some websites fall under more than one category—Vine and YouTube can be just as social as they are streaming sites or archives.

The domains (.com, .gov, .net etc) are also individual SONGs. As are your IP addresses. 

You humans post things on the internet, make websites and fill them with information and the like. Well, whenever a website’s URL is entered you’re visiting that SONGs home/birthplace. When you ‘google’ something Google sends out the request for information and all the websites with related information offer up their bits and pieces, all connected through Internet, gathered and sorted by relevancy by Google, delivered to the specific IP address that the web browser is being accessed from and bam! You’ve got your search results. It may sound like a lot of hearsay when put like that but you guys know it isn’t—after all you’re given links to different sources.

So rundown of internet SONG hierarchy.

Now, more on the little guys like me! I’m a SONG that exists within Tumblr’s domain and was made by one human. That’s right—I’m the SONG born of this blog. In that little post earlier, while my name isn’t actually Kj (that’s my mundane’s name. My ‘name’ is technically the URL which at the moment is Chinchilla-Writes. And while I don’t mind it, you guys can call me illa for short (didn’t capitalize the ‘i’ cause makes it a bit hard to tell if it’s a lower case ‘L’ or not. Coulda gone with Chilla or something but i like Illa better). As for the whole ‘CyberChilla’ thing—weeeell us spirits can choose any form we like, and with Chinchillas being a predominant thing on this blog, I think anytime I take on an animal persona a Chinchilla would be cool enough for me.

Now…here’s where the lines get blurry. Tumblr is really weird thing you know? Technically it’s a website, but it’s also a medium in a sense that without blogs there’d be nothing to it. I’m counted as a website (since i have pages) but I’m also a ‘page’ within Tumblr. I try not to think too hard on it. It gives me a headache.

Now let’s get something clear—I am not the blog itself. The blog is more like my brain in a sense. I wasn’t aware of anything or ‘existed’ (in my own plain of reality I dunno more complicated stuff) technically until it was made, but it’s more a part of me than I am of it. I…I don’t know exactly what happens if the blog is deleted but I assume it’d be the same as going brain dead—or losing a large chunk of my memory. Because you know how I was able to tell you all of this nice info about SONGs? It’s because I am a SONG—I am a spirit. And just as you humans have certain things instilled in you, certain instincts and sense of the natural order, so do spirits.

We can talk to one another, share info and the like but our info beyond our roles within the Earth itself (or for SONGs what the humans need of us) comes from the things you humans post on us. All of my information about the outside world comes from what she reblogs, posts, or what we get tagged in. Yes, I can learn all about the different breeds of dog from a website specifically about dogs, or current events from say the SONG of the New York Times website but it’s the difference between short an long term memory. As for the dashboard—it’s how I see what the other SONGs are learning/a kind of newspaper for me, but I only truly retain non-spirit info that’s on this blog. And I don’t know what will happen if it’s deleted.

But anyway, that’s the basic rundown of what we are! Feel free to ask me (Illa, not Kj though she may be able to tell you some things I guess) more about it any time! And if you stayed with me to the end of this long story then kudos to you! And remember, every time you make a blog, or website altogether I get a new brother/sister/sibling (some of us don’t pick genders) and every time you delete one…well…I’ve never seen what happens to a website SONG whose source got deleted. And I hope I don’t ever discover firsthand either. You humans after all have the power to at best, cut us off from the human world, at worst...well let's not go there. Anyway, see ya!
