no kid has ever been truly assisted by a power struggle. not to say you should let kids be in charge. no one’s in charge. you don’t need to make them do anything unless it’s for safety or for health, and then you explain exactly why afterwards.
young children are very. creature to me. all teeth. sometimes this pre-k kid looks at me, and she can’t keep her face clean to save her life, and she snarls in this animal way. one of my favorite moments. she is a Creature. absolutely delightful. never heard her say 1 coherent sentence and i don’t expect her to for another year.
