just because it’s “expected” does not mean it hurts any less or does not mean it still doesn’t feel like a kick in the teeth for any fan, but especially fans who have been directly impacted and hurt by the actions of the US administration and its supporters.
they’re getting torn up in their own instagram comments and i hope that any media personnel with access to the players who normally “don’t get into politics” push them on why they’ve suddenly changed their tune when it comes to this. (to clarify, i would not expect any sort of intelligent, well thought out opinion and even if anyone tried to apologise, it would feel hollow at this point).
regardless of who goes to the white house, the damage has been done for a lot of people through everything that’s happened and the radio silence from all of them when presented with backlash (which we know they’re aware of due to instagram stories getting deleted). it’s very evident there’s not a single backbone between them.
