Moo is a 6 year old cat of indeterminate breed. Moo has had health problems for a long time, but we've been able to manage it and keep stress down for the last several years. In the last week, Moo has started showing signs of neurological symptoms and has refused to eat. The last time I've been...
I hate posting this here, but I am at an absolute loss at what else to do and where else to turn. Moo is extremely sick and needs care ASAP. I'm doing everything I can to help in the meantime, and am still calling vets and charities, but without money or a diagnosis, I'm not getting much of anywhere. Any and all help is appreciated; I just want to get Moo through this.
What’s happened so far
About a week ago, Moo stopped eating. She is mildly dehydrated and has no balance. I can pick her up and set her down on the bed and she'll stumble forward with her ass going up over her head. Falling off of things, tripping over herself. She's fallen off of her cat tower several times and is super wobbly when she walks or even just stands. She doesn't want to jump or be up high. She has been refusing any and all food, and I have tried absolutely everything I can think of. Moo has also been pretty lethargic and just generally not acting like herself.
Because of my limited funds, the vet showed me how to ruin subq fluids on her at home. They said Moo is really sick, but without running blood work, they can't be 100% sure with what. Her theories as of Monday (4/29) are ear infection, brain tumor, or some sort of blood infection. After cleaning her ears, they’ve said they don't think it's an ear infection.
So far I have been treating at home with steroids, subq fluids, and antibiotics. Moo is still refusing to eat and while she seemed to be getting better at first, she has since regressed in her progress and has gone back to stumbling when she walks and poor balance.
