The tiniest revival of this blog:
- As a Black historian who works in museums and studies Black history specifically legal slavery and anti-Black societal and cultural norms it is beyond disturbing to see Trump, his administration, and his supporters continue their attack on education, books, and higher education under the guise that it "creates division" and is "anti-patriotic"
- I beg beg beg of everyone that can to be actively calling and emailing their representatives (for white people... respectively...this is the absolute bare minimum and should be a given), take time to read/educate yourself- do not rely on social media for history lessons and legal information, take the extra 15-30 minutes to do your research-, boycott what you can, attend local meetings, and keep their eyes open for protests and rally's. Taking the backseat is not an option if you call yourself an ally to any group of oppressed people, it's compliance.
- BIPOC and POC please take time for and prioritize self care. If there's ever a time in your life to lean on community it's now and know that no matter how dark things get in the coming years there will always be someone to fight for your right to live and exist how you are
