A Few Notes About How Twitter Works

Ok Denizens, we have a few things to discuss regarding the usage of twitter. It has come to my attention that some of you may be very new to twitter, or just don't really know quite how it works. Never fear, for I'm going to explain a few things that will make your tweeting go more smoothly! I know that I said that if you have any questions, please come to me. While that offer still stands, I feel like I need to post this for ease.

We will start with MENTIONS. Mentions are when you put someone's twitter handle in the tweet, such as "Hey @save_coppertv, you're awesome!" The first thing I'd like to say about mentions is that we politely request that YOU DO NOT RT CAST/CREW MENTIONS! I feel like I have to say this, like, A LOT. When you do that, you are spamming them, and it's not cool. The second thing I want to say is that, when you mention someone at the beginning of your tweet, you are basically only sending that tweet to the person you're mentioning, and anyone else who follows you that follows the person you're mentioning. I feel that made less than zero sense, so I will give an example. If you were to send the following: "@save_coppertv we want series 3", I would see it, but also anyone else who you follow, who also follows me would see it. However, if you were to tweet "Hey, @save_coppertv, we want series 3!!!", everyone who follows you will see it, even if they don't follow me. Even putting a period in front of the person twitter handle will ensure that everyone sees it. If you don't do this, new people won't know that they need to follow us to SAAAAAAAVE COPPERRRRRRR!

Now, we will move on to retweets (RTs from here on out, ladies and gentlemen). You HAVE to click (or tap, if you're on a smartphone) the button that looks like two arrows chasing each other in a square. That is the only way to RT something. Typing RT into the tweet field and then hitting send does not RT anything, it just mentions the person you're trying to RT in a reply. Also, it is worth mentioning that you SHOULD NOT RT CAST/CREW MENTIONS!

The Petition(s) - CALLING ALL NYC COPPERHEADS

Ok, so, as of RIGHT NOW, we are a mere 68 signatures away from goal. 932 is a MASSIVE number! Congratulations to us! We are fantastic! Brilliant! Bow ties are cool! No, wait, that's Doctor Who. I'm so, so sorry... Okay, okay, I'm stopping now.

One of our fearless leaders, @lawgrrl34 one twitter, came up with the lovely idea last night of getting a hard copy hand delivered to the BBCA Headquarters.

We feel like this would go a long way to showing them how serious we are about our brilliant show, so...we need a volunteer in the NYC area to make this happen. If anyone is willing and able to do this, DM us on twitter (or me, here, whichever is easiest for you!...if you CAN DM on tumblr...I haven't used this thing enough to know how it works, if I'm being perfectly honest ::insert bad poker face::).

Secondly, ours is NOT the only petition out there! Everyone go sign sign sign! I'll link them at the end of this post.

Finally, I'd like to, once again, invite you all to the facebook page to save Copper. As they mention on there, this can't be a quick spampaign (I just made that word up. Aren't I clever?) where we just go hard at it for a week or two and then say "screw it" and back off and just let it flutter in the breeze as passing fancy. This has to be a slow burn, a smoulder...kinda like a fine cigar (just don't let Francis near it because we may end up with it stubbed out in our noses...). Okay that kinda got away from me... What was I saying?

Update

I've been rather busy lately, wanted to hit you all with a quick update.

I've heard from several people that they are hearing back from Tom Fontana and Glen Salzman (from Cineflex). From what I understand, they are very grateful for the support, but no one is in any way committing to a film or another network picking up the show. As an aside, I haven't heard a word. If/when I do, I will let you know.

This DOES NOT mean that we should give up. Keep tweeting. Keep taking it to facebook. Keep getting signatures.

Speaking about facbeook, there's a new page that is sort of the hub on that site for all things Copper. The page is https://www.facebook.com/groups/575226115847540/

I urge everyone following us on twitter to join the facebook page, and vice versa. If we are going to keep abreast of things, we need to share all info.

Also, once more, I am asking you all to NOT RT anything with the cast/crew's twitter handles attached. I don't care if you mention me in it, but for the love of god DO NOT RT things with the cast/crew. It is spamming them, and it is detrimental to our cause. If you have questions about what you can RT, or how RTing works, or anything, really, please DM me. As I said before, I follow back everyone who follows @save_coppertv.

We are at 840 signatures. That being said, there are other petitions on change.org for the show. I'm going to see what I can do about recruiting those people to twitter/facebook pages. I'm signing all the petitions I can.

Rules for RTs

Okay, guys, it's come to my attention that, while some of you agreed to and are respecting the "no RTs with the cast/crew's twitter handles" tweet that I sent out the other day, there are still people who are blatantly ignoring it. The one I'm seeing most is when I asked Kevin Ryan (Francis Maguire) for a RT while he was stuck in traffic.

Let me be 10000000000% clear. Kevin gave me the RT for the @save_coppertv page. STOP RTing THIS MESSAGE!

I understand that we all want a season 3/film for closure. I started this page because I do, just as much as anyone else. However, I cannot condone spamming on any level. If you want to personally tweet the cast/crew for support, that's one thing, but use #savecopper. Mention us if you must, but for the love of our Boyos, PLEASE do not spam them, and please do not abuse RTs where they are mentioned.

Above all, be respectful. You wouldn't want someone cluttering up your timelines. Don't do it to others.

If you have any questions, DM me and ask. I follow ALL of you as your follows come in. I really don't want to have to be THAT mod, who is constantly scolding.

PLEASE READ!!! Very Important Notice

I've struggle with how to word this, so as not to come across as unfair or harsh in any way. However, having spoken with the other two mods, we have all agreed that this needs to be stated, followed, and respected. First let me state that I am a fangirl. I understand the flutter of excitement when you see/hear/read something of your favourite actor or musician. I have half a dozen pin boards devoted to my favourite people on Pinterest. I follow a bunch on twitter. I like their Facebook pages. There comes a point, though, when it crosses a line and becomes a bit...much. Over @save_coppertv, our goal is to simply get another season, or at the very least a film to give us a sense of closure and round out the story. The show is brilliant and more interesting than most shows on "major networks". We are not there to merely fangirl ourselves silly at the mention of Tom Weston-Jones's, Kevin Ryan's, Dylan Taylor's, Kyle Schmidt's, or Ato Essandoh's names. That being said, all three of the mods from @save_coppertv are respectfully requesting that you DO NOT mention us if you're going to make any sort of lascivious or cheeky remarks regarding the cast, especially if you are giving them a mention in the tweet as well. We do not want to be seen as a group of mad fangirls who only want the show on the air because hot guys. The point of this is not to attack anyone, so please don't think that. We are simply trying to nip in the bud something that none of us are comfortable with in this situation.
