A quick note regarding our campaign
Hello, fellow Copperheads! I thought I'd give a quick update, along with noting some great ideas from over at https://www.facebook.com/SaveCopper
First of all, thank you to the 526 of you who have already signed the petition! That number grows every single time I look at it!
If you aren't doing it already, give us a follow on twitter @save_coppertv. Updates will probably appear there first, as it's just easier with the 140 character limit.
We HAVE garnered an iota of attention from at least two of the actors (Dylan Taylor favourited a comment that had #savecopper, and Jim Watson actually gave us a RT!) I count this as HUGE plus! The actors are aware that we aren't ready to say goodbye!
Now, as I mentioned a moment ago, there are a few facebook pages devoted to saving our Boyos. The one linked above has some pretty good ideas. Aside from sending 3 Copper Pennies (and a note, explaining why we are sending BBCA money, 3 cents at time!), and fruitcakes (from each and every branch of Nellis' Bakery!), there are other things we can do.
Tom Fontana is not ready to let this go. When the news broke that BBCA would be cancelling it, he was quick to issue a statement that he'd like to continue the story as a film. It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that he knows the support he has for, if not a series 3, then a film.
He is out of the country at the moment, and will not be back for a few weeks, apparently. However, we understand that he DOES check his email, and he can be emailed at [email protected]. PLEASE send him a quick email to let him know how supportive we all are. Interestingly, on his website, it merely lists an email address and an explanation that he doesn't own a computer, but that the email will be given to him as a hard copy. DO NOT let this dissuade you from writing!
It was also pointed out that, for the most part, a fair portion of those of us campaigning are female, and therefore it might look like we are just fangirling over Tom or Kevin or Dylan or Kyle or Ato. I am fully aware that, while this may have a TINY bit to do with (I'm looking at you, Kevin Ryan), we all just want a quality show back on the air. That being said, if you've got male family/friends who watch the show, ask them for a signature on the petition, if nothing else. And for those males reading this that have already signed the petition and are following us on twitter, we thank you for being there to make the ladies among us appear less...er...fangirly :)
It is also of note that BBC Canada is not the only producer of Copper in Canada. It is also produced by Shaw Media, and is shown in Cananda on Showtime Network. More on that on the above-linked facebook page.
Lastly, we WILL follow back on twitter, and keep you all abreast of what may or may not be happening.
