AQUAPONICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aquaponics....Wat a weird but great experience i had with Cris and Anya.. I learned a lot of things about the great products we have literally on the street. Like for example wild carrot, garlic mustard, and mugwort. I also got to filet a talapia scale it and serve to a paying customer. It was very exciting this class and i would to do it again.

At the point they have a man named Christoper who taught us about fish and how to save money on the things we eat. One thing he told me the first day i met him was "if you can't kill it yourself, you shouldn't eat it". I realized that day that there is a lot of things i shouldn't be eating. That doesn't i'm going to stop but it gave me a different outlook on meat.

Working with Chris this summer I learned a lot. I really liked learning about the fish in the back triangle, as well as the ones by the main office. It was also very interesting to learn about a mushroom/fungi called mycelium, because I was taught that all you need to grow it is a moist area, and wood, or paper. Also, we were shown how Permaculture is crucial to the progression of urban farms, and how these things can mesh. Oh and I found out about a book called Mesh, and how it related to this idea that everything is connected. I learned a lot, and gained a lot working with Chris this summer.

R.I.P FISHES
In Literacy class i learned how dead fishes get bared in the garden. In the picture it shows how Mr.Chris cutting the fish head off and placing it in the hole . Why he did it? He did it because he said it helps the plants grow. Also if you're curious about where the body goes, it goes to the chickens. I think the hardest part was baring the fishes and cutting the head off. :)

Aquaphonics
Today in aquaponics i learned the process of how to clean a fish. This experience was exciting, also difficult because it was something new but you had to be able to prepare yourself mentally. You had to be able to sustain the smell,of rotten flesh.First we cut the heads off of the fish ,then the bottom of it to release all of the flesh, lastly we cut it into chuncks. This experience was a struggle for me because the smell was foul. One of the people in my group almost threw up,due to the smell lingering in the air .Some people were brave and just got the process done and others(like me) could'nt quite cope well.Overall,i had felt that the cleaning of the fish process was informative because it taught me a new skill. That could be possibly be useful later on in life.
