1. Muhammad Ali was an american olympic boxer and activist. He is widely regarded as one of the most significant and celebrated sports figure of the 20th century.

2. Muhammad mission was to share that anyone can be the greatest no matter what.

3. Muhammad Ali move forward on his mission by keep striving, and never giving up.

4. Muhammad Ali fought a system of oppression when he was mainly gonna go to war and, when he was the most famous African American boxer that was mainly teased by white people. 

5. Muhammad Ali actions made me get a clear understanding of what he was mainly discussing in his life.

6. I picked Muhammad Ali because he was a very open minded person, he's a person i look up to.

How would you say you thought or acted in the beginning of leadership camp?

Entering camp I was nervous. I was skeptical about the vibes I would get and the overall experience I would have here. So I came here ready to be reserved and to keep to myself. But that changed, because I was reminded of the positive energy people at The POINT give off.

Share some accomplishments you have had while in leadership camp:

I think I have become more mindful, in that way that I was reminded to appreciate the moments in my life and not take them for granted. I am proud of the progress I have made in learning how to ride the unicycle. I am happy that I did not let my shyness get the best of me in trying new things and meeting new people.

How did you experience in the leadership camp effect you as the program is coming to an end?

As the camp is coming to an end I’ve realized how fast time always manages to fly. I think I have shown a decent amount of courage while being here and due to classes like blogging/poetry I have developed a nice sense of peace within.

This summer has been a great trip working and being in The POINT’s summer youth camp! This camp has effected me in so many levels because I felt like I was being productive and feeling like I’m doing something with myself instead of being home doing nothing at all with this heat of summer. Also, I have accomplished some of my summer goals in this camp. Some of them were connecting myself to people more than I used to be because I really DISLIKE BEING AROUND PEOPLE. And in this camp I have been surrounding myself with people who want to do something with themselves after wards. I loved my summer youth employment I’ll miss it because i think I wont be here for next summer. I promised my family I’ll travel to go see them and spend time with them.

Coming to an End

In the beginning of the leadership camp , I was more closed off and to myself

Some accomplishments I’ve had while in leadership camp was that I learned how to self care , be more social , and gain production skills.

My experience in leadership camp effected me in that it was an overall beneficial experience

Music

I love music and feel people should play an instrument and appreciate it more. It's fun to learn an instrument  and it will help you in many ways even though you wont notice it.

An appreciation!

I would like to appreciate Darius for running his Blog Message Workshop and the whole Music Group for participating in his lesson. His lesson entailed a safe space where music (piano) is played and the group free writes to what they hear. I appreciated how Darius was able to ask the group to convey their thoughts in writing form and advocated and ensured a safe space for his group; and I appreciated the group for expressing themselves with various creative forms of free writes, example: poems, pictures, stories, and experiences. You all conveyed that communication of oneself comes in various creative and beautiful forms. Good Job!

There's no specific meaning to to this art work. We were just messing with colors until we decided to mix our favorite colors, which are peach and teal. This showed how vibrant and bright our certain interest are for things. The blending of colors also show our open mindedness to the world and how two is better than one. Teal and peach show not only out favorite colors but our personalities, which are fun and full of light. This was a good way to express inner feelings and how we feel about The Point.

One Day At A Time

At THE POINT, we are changing the community one by one. Being a part of the ACTION/GAP/Video group, we learned several issues that affect the minority group. Not only in the streets of the urban north also throughout various areas of the United States.

Each member including myself, contributed to a positive cause at THE POINT (environmentally, community wise, etc...)

One day at a time, we do something to stand up against the basic issues such as "Stop-and-Frisk" and the negative impressions it leaves on minorities in the city. We watched numerous video clips on police officers and their interactions among the youth between the ages of 13-25.  Our group is currently creating a documentary/film where the issue of random stop-and-frisks is seen as biased and unfair and how people feel about it. Along with storyboarding, recording short scenes in the area for the film and interviewing strangers, this film will demonstrate the essence of the urban neighborhoods.

This film/documentary will mark the highlight of the ACTION/GAP/Video Team. 

Together, WE ARE THE VOICE.
