Was honored to watch you shred this wave all by yourself. It could possibly be one of the last sessions ever to go down at this spot. Most experts agree that this will erode the beaches and make a big problem'. I got this message👆🏽from a friend tonight who lives up there. I personally don't know much about the project so does anyone have any more info in the region for us? I've seen the Army Corp do wonders to perfectly good beaches in the past and I can't help but think (know) that people only people who spend their lives on beaches (or any other stretch of land for that matter) watching the patterns for decades should have a say in altering it. People have a bad habit of building homes and condos near beaches that are on sand dunes and then want 'protection' from the oceans and elements. I'm not sure why humans want to control nature. It's incredible that taxpayer money gets used to protect private homes/condos from natural environmental patterns. I'm continually baffled by it but I'm assuming a little bit here as to what's going on. @surfrider, do you have any knowledge about this project? #PreserveMontauk #SaveMontauk

This place has a lot of great memories for me. My family had a house near #EastDeck when I was young and I've seen this place change over the years for good and bad. Larry Cantwell and The Montauk Chamber of Commerce said there is no opposition to the project. How about 400 screaming people on the beach today. Does that count? I'm beyond grateful and honored to paddle among such amazing people today. REPOST and show how the Army Corp is destroying our beaches!! Montauk will never be the same. They are building boardwalks all over the dunes and putting "Eco" bags into the beaches from there all the way past The Atlantic Terrace. SHAME ON YOU if you supported the destruction and denaturalization of our PUBLIC beaches. Just wait till the first storm comes and washes all the sand off the bags. Guess who has to pay the bill to replenish the sand. WE DO! They lied and said this was a emergency from Sandy.... Remember Sandy?! Yeah. Liars and thieves. Someone's wallet is getting fat right now.
