Yesterday I drove the Pacific highway from Sydney to Lennox - thick bushfire smoke was my constant companion - the air quality was worst in the Sydney Basin. As I drove I witnessed the fire ravaged areas around Taree and Port Macquarie. I did not see a living animal just charcoal and ash. 100s of 1000s of birds, insects and other animals have perished and thousands more will die agonising deaths - You know how painful a burn is, imagine being burnt all over and dying alone with no one to help with the pain and dehydration.
