A little over a year ago our family had to flee the rural Appalachian town we lived in because our daughter, who was 7 at the time, received a death threat. Today in Portland, ME we saw strangers and friends come out in the bitter cold to stand up against this administration for families like ours. The difference between what we experienced in the south and the support we have found here in the north is astonishing. Our family felt seen and heard - thank you.
