This is from when I was at a honey farm and a hive was being relocated. These girls flew up and chilled out on me while all the other bees were going crazy during the relocation.

What exactly is Colony Collapse Disorder?
- CCD is when the majority of worker bees in a colony disappear and leave behind a queen, plenty of food and a few nurse bees to care for the remaining immature bees and the queen.
- The syndrome was renamed colony collapse disorder in late 2006 in conjunction with a drastic rise in the number of disappearances of Western honey bee colonies in North America.
- CCD causes significant economic losses because many agricultural crops worldwide are pollinated by western honey bees.
- In the six years leading up to 2013, more than 10 million beehives were lost, often to CCD, nearly twice the normal rate of loss.
- There is no known cause for CCD although there are several possible ones (theories) for example malnutrition, various pathogens, genetic factors, pesticides, changing beekeeping practices or a combination of a few of these.
- There are many studies done on different possible causes for CCD, but I won't go into them in this post (I may in the future).
To help with research for the cause of CCD you can donate to these causes: Pollinator Partnership, Bee Raw or my patreon page so that the money pledged will go to a different organization every month.
