um hey i saved a drawin in the mdp file and i finally finished it and it closed for no reason. and now each time i try to open it medibang just closes. help?

Sounds like the file might have been corrupted while saving. Saving to a folder that is synced to an online service (OneDrive, iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc) increases the chance of corruption while saving. If the file is corrupted, there might not be a way to save it, sorry.

See my workflow rant here for other ways of reducing this problem. (Biggest tip: save every half-hour or so to a new filename - file01, file02, file03, etc)

If you have updated to a recent version of MediBang Paint Pro (current version 11.2, check the Help menu, About), and you have enabled Autosave (File menu, Environment Setting) then you might have an autosave (anti-crash) backup file, use Help menu, Open Config Folder to find the autosave folders.

Edit: MediBang Paint Pro 11.1 introduced a bug in Windows where some saved files could not be re-opened. Solution: update to 11.2 (still might not re-open those saved files, but will hopefully not save any more files that cannot re-open).

I had two drawings open and I saved the one I started working on under the name "tiger" but now when I open the fuel it pulls up the other drawing. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks!

Probably not, it sounds like you might have overwritten the file (saved two files to the same name) - sometimes much too easy to do, especially since accidentally clicking an existing file in the folder preview when saving will set that file as the save name, not the one you just typed in.

Hello, I finished a drawing and I can't save it like 'jpg' image It says "Memory Error ( lack of memory) There is possibility the image is too large". There was no problem when i saved my comics but there is a problem when i try to save a normal drawing. I checked my computer memory to see if that's the problem but i have enough memory. Is it because i save one drawing too many times. I try to make it 'psd' file and to open it with other program but it said the same. Please help?

Try saving it in a different location (so maybe your desktop), then drag the file to the location you want. If this issue persists, then the file is just too large, try saving to a flash drive (USB/thumb drive/whatever you call it) or an external HD.

Hi there!! I've had trouble opening a file, every time I try to access it it says: Failed to open- then just the file name. I'm not sure if you've gone over this already somewhere but if there's a solution, please let me know! Thanks <3

Could be a corrupted file. Try opening in _____ (FireAlpaca/Medibang Paint–whichever one you didn’t use the first time). If it also has issues in the other program, you are facing a corrupted file. Not much can be done about corrupted files (while there are recovery options they rarely ever work). However, if you have backup saves, you can access the file in your program folder, and recover it that way, but it may have less information than where your current save was at (still better than losing everything!).

Hello there. I have a question on how to save a picture with a transparent background in FA. I've gotten lucky a few times with few of the pictures but I'm not having a lot of luck any more...

Save them as a .png (to upload and save as either .psd or .mdp to preserve layers).

you guys I need some help, I let firealpaca auto save but it says "fireplace insufficient memory" does deleting mps help at all or..

You could go through your autosaves and clear out any that you no longer need, as where they are being stored is running out of memory (or is out of it already).

hi! so im working on a painting but when i try to save it in mdp format it continues to say failed to save. im not sure what to do since saving it in other formats loses the layers :(

Try .psd (saves layers as well and can be opened in more programs than .mdp).

If you are on Windows, also try a short file path without spaces e.g. C:\myart\myfile.mdp - the maximum path length issue can cause failed saves on Windows if you have a long file name and/or lots of sub-folders. -O

Hello ! I can't save my drawings in jpg and png files. only in mdp. When i try i get an error message that it can't save. This is weird because I saved earlier in the day and now the error started and it wont go and i can't save anything (i tried with other stuff) i even restarted my pc and tried cleaning it...(im on windows)

There can be a few causes of this:

Insufficient memory: try restarting your computer, only running FireAlpaca, and saving. Alternatively, try a 64-bit version of MediBang Paint Pro. It will open the .mdp files, and being 64-bit can use much more memory than FireAlpaca can handle. Alternatively, try working on smaller images: try starting a new image, setting your units to pixels (important: set units first, then size), then setting dimensions (start with a very small 800x600 pixels project, for example) - if you are not paying attention, you can easily try to create a 1000x1000 inch image instead of a 1000x1000 pixel image.

Long file names: 32-bit Windows programs will sometimes run into the Windows 260-character path problem. Try saving to the desktop, to a USB stick or external USB drive, or to a short path e.g. C:\art\myfile.png (and try file names without spaces or diacritics/accents, only plain ASCII/Roman letters).

Permission problems: can be due to multiple accounts on the one computer, some system upgrades or updates, running on Windows XP, or some aggressive anti-malware programs. Again, try saving to the desktop, to a USB stick or external USB drive.

Edit: if you are saving over an existing image with the same name, this can sometimes be blocked by anti-virus, Windows file indexing, or the thumbnail viewing add-on. Use Save As and save to a different file name. -O
