Source: Fucking love this album, Scream was such a good record and it came out on Vagrant right in the middle of Vagrants heyday. Alkaline trio, Face to Face, Saves the Day, Hot Rod Circuit...oh and Get Up Kids..der. everything that was coming out was either super good (see previous list) or super popular but not great (i.e. Dashboard Confessional). don't get me wrong its not that DC was a band band, it was just not intended for me. far be it form me to hate on someones music because its not my type, it just wasn't for me.
BUT Rocket. holy shit! the first four songs alone are a giant musical bat hitting you over the head and waking you the fuck up. the rest of the album is great two but this ones drops bombs on you right away that the rest of the album is just aftermath of their destruction. Any RFTC fan knows what i mean, and if you don't believe me crack this bad boy open and listen for yourself on 11.
after a few texts back and forth with the almighty Dave Naz about art he helped me decipher the signature on this design SAVX which turned out to be a guy named Savage Pencil. i'd heard of him before but if you asked me to cite a specific design of his i would be remiss. until today when i looked him up and it turns out he was the guy that did Big Black's album cover Headache
this guy i always thought had a very Pushead esque design aesthetic that i really dug. so I'm stoked today i can finally draw a line between designs and put a name to the pencil...the Savage Pencil.
