So does Sax have both minds talking at the same time or is it just a brand new mind with both of their traits added
It's a little of both! He's mostly a single mind, but with enough focus (or stress) his mind can separate into Sam and Max talking to each other. I like to use the metaphor of poorly mixed cake batter to describe Sax. It's recognizably it's own unit, but you can still pick out streaks of egg and pockets of flour.
Arguments cause massive headaches, and he pulls on his ears when stressed.
