Public service announcement. Can we leave trans people alone? Thanks.
This is extremely and explicitly targeted towards SB 244, passed in Kansas. Hey Kansas lawmakers? Go fuck yourselves. I hope you feel ashamed. I hope the people close to you understand how horrible you are and I hope they cast you out of their lives. I hope you have to pay for the consequences of your actions.
It's truly disgusting and abhorrent.
To any trans people in Kansas, I hope you'll be okay. I hope you'll get through this. Your state lawmakers have failed you and so has the government in many ways. You didn't deserve this happening to you. No one deserves this happening to them.
Please stay safe in this nightmare of an administration.

Really cool piece of protest art that I can't do because I don't have fine money proposal
Considering the recent bathroom bill, if someone could be really based and cool and could go to Topeka and other Kansas government buildings and replace all the bathroom signs with gender netural ones, that would be incredibly cool and potentially politically useful?
You could also wheatpaste the bathrooms theoretically, with like signs and slogans supporting trans rights? Perhaps it would do something. Or at least tape up some posters?
Feb 27 (Reuters) - "Two transgender men in Kansas filed a lawsuit on Friday seeking to strike down a new state law that invalidated the driver's licenses and birth certificates of more than 1,000 transgender people.
The American Civil Liberties Union is representing the plaintiffs, who claim in the lawsuit, opens new tab, filed in Kansas state court, that the law violates their rights to equality, due process and privacy under the state constitution.
"The law makes Kansas the only U.S. state to invalidate previously approved changes to gender markers on identification documents, part of a broader push by Republican-led legislatures to restrict the rights of transgender people.
The sweeping law, which took effect on Thursday, requires state residents to change their gender identification on driver's licenses and birth certificates to the sex they were assigned at birth, and bans them from changing their gender on those documents in the future.
The law also prohibits transgender people from using multi-occupancy bathrooms in government buildings that do not correspond to their sex assigned at birth, and authorizes private citizens to sue people who violate the law."

ACLU already has a lawsuit open against the state of Kansas for its most recent anti trans law.
SB 244 was rammed through the voting process with no opportunity for public comment to be given by kansas citizens. It's unconstitutional in its cruelty.

The ACLU is trying to set things right but don't force yourself to stay in Kansas if you feel like your life and livelihood are in danger. Be safe and remember that you matter. Your existence is not a crime.
Over 1,000 trans residents of Kansas just learned their IDs may now be invalid. Here's why.
The warning came after state lawmakers passed an anti-trans bill on Feb. 18, invalidating gender marker changes on the documents.

TOPEKA, Kan. — Kansas officials have sent letters out to over 1,000 transgender state residents, warning them that their driver's licenses and birth certificates may now be invalid.
Kansas Department of Revenue Spokesperson Zach Denney confirmed to The Topeka Capital-Journal that the letters were sent out to an estimated 1,500 trans people in the state after a new law took effect, invalidating gender marker changes on the documents.
“The Department is working as quickly as possible to notify individuals whose credentials will be affected under SB 244, ensuring they have sufficient time to update their credentials and avoid any disruption,” Denney told Topeka Capital-Journal reporter Jason Alatidd. “Letters are being sent to those impacted, and they should begin receiving them soon.”
State lawmakers previously passed the anti-trans legislation despite warnings from Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly, who vetoed the bill. Lawmakers in both the state's House and Senate overrode Kelly's veto on Feb. 18.
The law also banned transgender people from using bathrooms or locker rooms in government buildings that align with their gender identity and banned the creation of gender-neutral bathrooms with more than one stall.

"Kansas has officially reached 'pack a bag and RUN' status.”
It's already challenging to be openly LGBTQ+ in a deeply conservative state, but Kansas just added another layer of difficulty for transgender residents. As of Feb. 26, a new Kansas law states that driver's licenses are only valid if they list the holder's sex at birth.
