You cannot defeat misogyny by behaving like a misogynist.

This month in June, millions of people will celebrate Pride - honoring the queer rioters outside of the Stonewall Inn in New York City, who
“We know that we can’t count on the police to protect us, given their documented sympathies and outright coordination with the far-Right, not to mention their history of brutality towards queer and trans people. This Pride month, we must come together like never before in defense of queer communities and push back against the escalating threat posed by the far-Right. When we come together, organize, and stand up fearlessly, we can keep ourselves safe – and win.
Yes, these are scary times. But remember those that came before us who fought for liberation. Because of them, we are coming from a place of power; popular opinion is on our side. So it’s our turn to stand up and defend queer life, and keep fighting for those who come after us. Of course there are risks. But by becoming informed, prepared, and building community, we can mitigate those dangers and build a better world.”

“If I have one message to give to the secular American people, it’s that the world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don’t know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you. And our governments are very much the same.”
― Marjane Satrapi, Iranian graphic novelist
Goodnight, and rest in peace, Marjane Satrapi. Thank you for your work and your voice. May we hear you.

RIP Marjane Satrapi, author of the amazing graphic novels Persepolis about living during the fundamentalist revolution in Iran in the 70's and 80's. She also created the animated movie based on the graphic novels, which is where these gifs come from.

Hey ur recent post has a pic with a hijabi wearing a punk is not dead shirt and two older ladies who look mad...why is that? I completely disagree with Saudi women not being able to drive but what does that have to do with the topic?
That image is from Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi’s two-part graphic novel and animated film about growing up in Iran during the Islamic revolution. She was a rebel and I’m using that image to represent female rebellion to Islamic restrictions.
The books are amazing, I can’t recommend them enough!
RIP Marjane Satrapi, everyone READ THE GRAPHIC NOVELS AND WATCH THE ANIMATED MOVIE!
I'm a huge comics fan, and these are top tier / GOAT level works.
Family members said the author of the landmark comic book memoir ‘died of sadness’ after the death of her husband last year
Happy Pride everybody! Don’t fall for the yearly “divide and conquer” tricks from the right
Concerns also extend to families who use in vitro fertilization and women with IUDs.
"A North Carolina bill making headlines nationwide would ban abortion at any stage of pregnancy, classify the procedure as first-degree murder and authorize the use of deadly force to stop it — prompting swift pushback from advocates.
House Bill 1232 states: "Any person who willfully seeks to destroy the life of another person, by any means, at any stage of life, or succeeds in doing so, shall be held accountable for attempted murder or for first degree murder, respectively."
The bill goes on to say, "Any person has the right to defend his or her own life or the life of another person, even by the use of deadly force if necessary."
Advocates warn the language implies that anyone could use lethal force against a woman seeking an abortion or a physician involved in performing one. Concerns also extend to families who use in vitro fertilization and women with IUDs."

"Right to life" my ass. "Right to control/rule" is what they're after and what they've ALWAYS been after.

My post on the 100% hypocrisy of the so-called “Pro Life” movement
"LGBTQ+ people with disabilities are often denied an intersectional identity due to inaccessible queer places/events, and the false idea that they cannot have sexual and gender identities. We must remember to make all places accessible and inclusive -- from homes to bars, to parades and festivals -- this month and all year long.
Love these words by Annie Segarra. “It starts with hiring us as organizers, it starts with integrating us into the spaces where we belonged all along. It takes the work to unlearn ableism and misconceptions about disability, it takes effort and care to make our spaces accessible. Pride is for all of us, not some of us.”

"The Stonewall riots (also known as the Stonewall uprising, Stonewall rebellion, Stonewall revolution, or simply Stonewall) were a series of spontaneous riots and demonstrations against a police raid that took place in the early morning of June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn, in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Lower Manhattan in New York City. Although the demonstrations were not the first time American LGBTQ people fought back against government-sponsored persecution of sexual minorities, the Stonewall riots marked a new beginning for the gay rights movement in the United States and around the world."

Happy heterosexual pride day. Because it will piss off all the entitled people that have a hard time accepting they’re heterophobes.
I’ve celebrated your pride… why can’t I be proud of myself as well?
Oh and don’t use your silly tumblr words such as “privilege” and “oppressed” etc.
This just in: the word privilege was created on tumblr. Nobody outside of tumblr uses or understands the word privilege. It’s a silly tumblr word. You silly tumblr users and your made up privilege.
Can someone explain this my “silly tumblr” brain cannot comprehend the amount of straight white male privilege needed to actually understand that someone sat down, and spent time and effort typing that shitty, oppressive post
@profeminist some help please?
A CRY FOR HELP?!? ON IT.
Hi there!
1. First off, you are wasting your time with this common troll. Trolls don’t care about the issues they talk about, they just want to push your buttons. They are psychic vampires.
So my first recommendation is DON’T FEED THE TROLLS. Let them starve from lack of attention.
Look at the username, classic troll name.
2. In terms of this “straight pride” business:
By the way it seems that the hashtag was started as ironic commentary, but dipshits ran with it:

Use labels to the extent that they help you to connect with yourself and your community, but don't feel bound by them. After all, they're just labels, they're not YOU. Identity isn't singular or static.
