I bound a book and it doesn’t suck
First bookbinding project, and it didn’t turn out as shit as I thought it would!
Solve Me, Bend Me, Break Me by LittleBlueArtist (@noyaplease). Eruri detective AU with ghosts. What more do you want?
Used the massive guide by the amazing @armoredsuperheavy as a reference for most things, and this kettle stitch tutorial on YouTube
And, now, the part absolutely no one was waiting for: process!
AKA a bunch of sacrilegious shit I probably did wrong
1. Cover
Ash’s guide said to use Bristol board, but that cost Money™, which is something I, am unemployed teenager, have none of. Solution?
Everybody loves a spare cardboard box. Idk if this is going to come back and bite me in the ass later, but it works pretty well for now.
2. Sewing holes
I didn’t get my awl until earlier today, and used a normal pin instead. Got a few extra accidental holes in the paper, but it didn’t give me too much trouble.
3. Books as book press
I appreciate fine literature
(It’s so tiny lol)
Also fucked up the printing the first few times. Trial and error, right?
Stuff I did (sort of) right:
This
And these
Not this
Look at that fucking CREASE
Again, not nearly as bad as it could have been :)
