In honor of mermay, do you have any fishy science team head canons?

Can be anything, as long as it’s someway related to fish lol

Oh! Uh, uh, personal ranking of who would be best to worst in terms of being able to care for fish:

Tommy, but I don't think he'd be very into it. I think he'd be neutral about keeping fish as pets, but enthusiastic about, say, visiting an aquarium.

Darnold, though I'm honestly not sure how interested he'd be in fish. I think he'd be more interested in making a potion that fish can live in, with various effects. But I could also see him being a huge fish guy! I dunno.

Bubby, and he'd be very into keeping cool and dangerous fish. I think most of his fish would be silvery or grey, you know, not necessarily the colorful tropical fish. More like. Swordfish, small sharks, perhaps a lionfish or pufferfish here and there.

He and Dr. Coomer would co-raise a variety of octopuses and cuttlefish.

Dr. Coomer is next, and I think he would be the type of person to have kept a goldfish for the last 20 years, it is now the size of a small dog and is becoming too powerful, please help, the neighbors are getting concerned. It also loves pets and has learned to jump out of the water to headbutt enemies (and Gordon) on command.

But honestly, you could go literally any direction with Dr. Coomer here.

Gordon could maybe keep a betta alive. But probably not. I think it would take getting his shit together first at least.

Benrey probably eats fish raw.

... Okay, no, jokes aside, it depends heavily on where on Benrey's arc he's at. He's good at following the rules, when they're rules that he cares about and decides to follow, so I think he could take care of fish when approaching it from that angle, if he's got a sufficient appreciation for the inherent value of life, or if fish are the kind of little guys he'd like. But on the other hand, he could very much eat any fish raw and whole, and it could be very funny depending on how Gordon reacts to it. So it all depends.

Yeah, I haven't given enough thought into what fish they'd be as merfolk, sorry. There are a lot of fish. Like a loooooooot of fish. Oarfish Benrey is fantastic, though, I love that.

When you mentioned an "Actual physical location" where it's all headed (combined with the fact your backdrop is stars) I just.. Bubby: "I'M ESCAPING TO THE ONE PLACE THAT HASN'T BEEN CORUPTED BY CAPITALSIM: SPACE!" (a la Red Alert) and I cannot stop laughing.
