The connection between two lil blonds who grew up dirt poor in not great conditions, were suddenly ripped from their parents at a young age, thrust into responsibility above their head for their age, now with a lot of money and riches and in general were forced to grow up too fast, can be so personal and meaningful

Like fuck, what if in being forced to save a girl and do your first kind act in many years your now facing someone who understands you in a weird way, someone who can mirror you and bounce back all the parts of you that grew bitter and mean that you hate because their still good in her. Someone who you find you cant help but want to keep safe.

What if your put into the unlikely world were your finally let out of the bubble you've been put into after being ripped from your father and family and put among other people. Selfish people who are being forced to learn to widen their scope on the world and take care of you. That your teaching them to love and care about others and themselves, and in that learning they teach you to lean on them. that your not the adult and you dont have to be the adult, your 14 and its not your job to keep them safe. Its your job to keep your youth. They know this best, both of them lost their childhoods and their not going to let you lose yours.

the cycle of remembering the people who loved you and left a lasting imprint onto you that you are now handing down to this scared child. Your handing down a peice of that happiness you've managed to keep all these years..

Does valentine also changes in your au like scarlet? Does he do the same bad actions to Lucy like in canon or does hot pants fight him and save Lucy similar to when she prevented scarlet from doing things to Lucy like in your au?

so ye no, iv gutted that part out as well. FV is just evil as a campy ass nationalistic president. He was fine with being over the top cartoon American president evil he didnt need the layer of being a rapist and pedophile to lucy

I think most of that initial Tublar Bell shit goes about the same, Lucy sneaking into FV room to find the corpse part, disguising herself as Scarlet, putting FV to sleep, and then getting caught by Tubular Bells.

And while iv removed Scarlet being a creep to Lucy, I still like the idea of her being a crazy ride or die motherfucker for her powerful president husband. So between Scarlet realizing whats going on and Tubular Bell attack, Hot Pants jumps to the rescue for Lucy

But at the end of the fight, when its time to run and HP is faced with the choice to get Lucy out of there, or leave the corpse parts behind. Its the first good choice Hot Pants has made in a very long time, the first unselfish choice. She Saves Lucy and leave the corpse parts behind taking only her spine part (and unknowing to either Lucy or Hot Pants, the heart of the corpse that she got when Mountain Tim died)

From here on out, Lucy is traveling with Hot Pants and Diego. In my mind the rewrite leads to them falling into enemies different (and as well as me inserting another stand user or two of my own hehe)

One of the Bigger changes for them, is that it is Diego, Hot Pants and Lucy who run into Civil War fight instead of Johnny and Gyro. as well as editing the stand from just things you've through away but regrets and fears your holding on to.

Iv envisioned this scene where Lucy has either been told to wait outside or been set into a 'safe spot' by hot pants as their trying to track down a stand user. Diego and HP have both split up to search the building, until Hot pants feels a weird sensation, its getting harder to breath. She falls to the ground gasping for air, and looks to relize whats happening. her brother is attached to her, her greatest regret the source of her guilt is hanging onto her. Looking into the broken mirror shards still stood loosely in its frame in front of her, she swears her reflection is that of the bear who ate her brother looking back at her.

She needs to find Diego, this stand attack is taking the things you've thrown away, the things that weigh you down and make you scared. And if theres anyone who never feels remorse for anything he's done, it would be Diego Brando.

However she crawls to find him in a back room on the floor shaking and blubbering, he looks wet like he's been drowning and she's tightly gripped in his hands is an old dirty blue dress of a woman. Diego is crying for his mother and cannot move.

They think to call Lucy for help with her Stand Tiny Butterfly, but she's too far from them to make it. They cant keep running to this kid, they have to face this themselves.

Diego gets the Lucy Steel, Diego turns her into a horse girl

So you know your amazing sbr au/rewrite where Hotpants and Diego look after Lucy Steel? Well, I'd just been thinking about the repercussions if it were more canon compliant with character deaths when I realised something:

Wow, this would have turned the fight with alternate universe Diego/the World from terrifying to heart-breaking.

Because imagine. Imagine Lucy, so, so close to the end of this journey, to the end of this tragedy that has claimed her protectors, her friends' lives, only to come face to face with the last hurdle.

And it's wearing Diego's face.

He's cold, and cruel, and callous, and he's everything that Diego learned not to be but he's wearing. HIS. FACE.

She knows what she has to do, she knows, but there's a voice at the back of her mind (strangely reminiscent of the one Johnny had when fighting Valentine). What if it could be different? What if it could be better?

What if she could get him back?

this ask literally had me rethink the way i wanted to go about this area of my rewrite and find a middle point between what I originally thought and this. Which originally it was just that Lucy stayed behind with the just barely having survived Diego and Hot Pants while the ending mostly goes the same with johnny going after alt Diego...

but oUGh im picturing the idea of Lucy is on the train with Diego and Hot Pants, their attempting to get Lucy to Mr. Steel and out of the country for her safety as everyone has painted a target on their back. However the trio is cornered by Funny Valentine who has realized they have the last pieces of the corpse between them. He's managed to collect from Johnny and Gyro and now he just needs the remaining eye, spine, and the heart to finish the job.

Fight goes almost the same as the canon, Diego nearly takes out FV but it crushed under the wheels of the train. FV receives the second eye. Hot Pants attempts to bargain with the President, to let Lucy leave safely if they hand over the remaining corpse parts. FV is instead the one hosting the finishing form of the holy corpse and the pull of the Love Train and its protection is active. Though Valentine promises to let Lucy go, he refuses to let Hot Pants go, and still plans to take care of Steel. Hot Pants goes to defend herself but is impaled by the incoming debris from the activating Love Train. The last Lucy see's of HP is Hot Pants attempting to move away from Valentine as the shards of glass attempt to crawl up her arm. Frozen unable to get herself to stay and keep Lucy safe or leaving to save herself. Just in time she see's Johnny and Gyro riding up on Horseback, and she falls from the train, which Lucy presumes to her death.

However unknown to Lucy, Hot Pant's escape saved her as she leaves the range of Love Train and manages to use cream starter to remove the glass. from here HP would hurry down the train line to the two halves of Diego that could hardly be called alive. Using Cream Starter to mend his wounds, just barely in the nick of time.

Back down the Tracks, time has passed and the fight between Johnny, Gyro and Valentine has concluded. Gyro and Valentine are dead while Johnny and Lucy mourn their loses. However the alternate Diego shows up to take the corpse and Johnny chase after him. Lucy Follows knowing Johnny cant do it alone in his state and she knows the secret to take out the alt Diego (However not with base world Diego's head this time, instead with one of the ribbons Diego gave her along the way. )

However I picture that Johnny loses to Diego and Lucy runs into Alt Diego before the bunker. Her and Tiny Butterfly are attempting to stop him while avoiding getting trapped in The Worlds range.

During all this, Diego senses Tiny Butterfly/Lucy's fear and need for HP and Diego to come and save her again. Lucy is running from a man with the face of someone who has become so important to her. As far as she's aware this is the only thing left of him in the world and its trying to kill her.

Diego would make just in time, getting up and going after her before Cream Starter can properly heal him (which is important to my Giorno fanpart and the main reason he died so young) Diego and Lucy take out this secondary Dio together.
