surrounded but still alone is my child!!!

3. What’s your favorite line of narration? In chapter 12: “The sunlight still streaming in from the open windows caught on the ends of Fitz’s curls and the tips of his eyelashes, forming a golden halo. Bobbi looked up at him, a smile aching at her cheeks. Yes, her Fitz was an angel - and yes, he took her to heaven.” It was such a beautiful moment for Bobbi to be able to trust someone again and I, personally, am a slut for religious symbolism so describing Fitz as an angel was so much fun!

4. What’s your favorite line of dialogue? Also in chapter 12: “Yeah, but I’m only accepting the ‘I started a polyamorous relationship with three people this week’ excuse once.” Bobbi and Piper’s relationship wasn’t supposed to be as big in the fic as it ended up being, but I was really pleased with the way it developed and how much of a grounding point Piper was for Bobbi, and this line kind of encapsulates that (while also being funny, I hope).

6. Which scenes did you cut, and which were added in SbSA? ☺️

Cut: When I first conceived the story I wasn’t sure if it was going to stay in Bobbi’s POV the whole time, so I did have some ideas about scenes between the other couples/triad that she isn’t a part of that eventually got cut just because Bobbi wasn’t there to witness them. There was also supposed to be a scene between Bobbi, Piper, and Davis, but Davis as a character ended up being cut from the story entirely so that scene didn’t make it in.

Added: The scene in the diner between Bobbi, Piper, Jemma, and Daisy. I think I’ve mentioned before, but Bobbi and Piper’s friendship was supposed to have a lot smaller of a role in SbSA than it ended up with. One of my pet peeves in fics is when the side characters exist only to support the main story, and I realized I was doing that to Piper by making her Bobbi’s love guru/support person. The diner scene was meant to show that Piper very much does have a life outside of supporting Bobbi, so I was pleased to have added that scene/dynamic. :)

2. Which scene was your favorite to write in surrounded by still alone?

Literally any scene after they finally get their shit together. I think if I had to pick an absolute favorite, though, the first scene in the last chapter where they all wake up together and Bobbi gets her good news. It was what the entire fic was building to - them being together and happy - and it felt amazing to write because not only did they get their happy ending, but they earned it.
