Malampaya gas field operators have completed drilling of two wells set to boost production. SC 38 drilling data will now be analyzed for further study.
SC 38 Consortium consists of Chevron Malampaya subsidiary and PEC.
Total cost for drilling was estimated at $250 million, the latter part of the $1 billion investment will go the construction and installation of a new platform to draw more gas out of the field.
SC 38 is projected to deliver 440 million cf/day and currently supplies 3 power plants for a total of 2,700 MW, representing 40 - 45% of Luzon's generation capacity.
SC 38 has proven reserves of 2.7 - 3.2 trillion cf, 1 trillion cf has already been extracted.
