Question for the SCA Chiv Combat enjoyers: what's the clearance limit for the bottom of the helm above the neck and shoulders? I've got a short, thick neck and I may need to cut and re-weld the wrap-around portion of the cage on this MGA spangenhelm to make it useable. My shire has zero chiv marshals or fighters to ask
I wanted to go to this one so bad when I heard about it, because it's so close. Unfortunately I was committed for a baby shower.
We had a wonderful turnout for the Grail tournament tonight! 12 fighters competing with another few doing pickups!
Operation gambeson, part 1
Ok so my boyfriend Gabriel does SCA heavy combat and under his armor he currently wears an old sweatshirt which has quite honestly seen better days. So for his Christmas present this year I am making him a proper gambeson.
At this point I have measurements, broadcloth for a mockup, a pattern I found online, and blind faith. Patterning should start in the next few days, and I hope to have this done by December 6, which is his next tournament.
