Closer, "clearer" photos of my Very Cool DZS-007 head sculpt, borrowing my Ken's DAM-toys body. He's painted a bit differently than the original release from 2015, if I recall correctly. I got that HS as a birthday gift, or Xmas gift from my BFF a few years ago. I had lost hope of ever finding a legit one for a decent price, so I had stopped looking, then I got him as a gift. Now I got this one myself to repaint, but I'm kind of second guessing myself a little. I love the sculpt, I think it's beautiful. However, I am not sure I love how they painted this one. I like the way they did the eyebrows better on the newer release, which is called "Holy Man Returns." I believe it is a character from a licensed Chinese computer game. However, I feel the first one looks more like a CGI character, and this one looks a bit too close to a real-life celebrity, and I am not a fan of that. I like the first release paint apps a lot better as a whole, particularly the eyes, lips and shading/blushing.
On the other hand, I got this one specifically for repainting, but this one is also really nicely painted, so I am a bit torn. I feel like I will end up repainting him anyway, because that's the reason why I got him, even if I regret it later. I can always try getting another head-sculpt loose like this one, but holey-freaking heck, these are so expensive already second market (he just barely released recently!). Kind of annoying that niche hobbies get such insane prices as there are more people interested in them, when I recall loose HS going for so cheap in the old days. (old-grumpy-fart-complaining-about-life!)
Last shot is a comparison between my own original release head sculpt of the "Holy Man" figure, and this second release. They both came with a sculpt with the eyes closed for the "deluxe" set, but I never had any intention of getting those heads. I kind of wanted to get one this time, but not at the crazy prices these are going for. I don't do fake copies, so the only way to get a legit one is for an eye off the face, and I don't feel like I can justify it. When it's just a pretty-looking sculpt for me, and not one based on a character I love -- just the opened eyed one is enough, I feel like.
