Beware of fake artist online messaging you.
This is the second time this has happened to me where someone will message me asking me to commission from them. I unfortunately reported them before taking screenshots but fortunately i still had notifications on of the messages sent to me. This individual obviously used AI to make art and was trying to convince to commission them for it. I had questioned them about their “art” and their Twitter account and then continued to point out their obvious use of AI. This person obviously didn’t realize I was an artist until I told them yet still tried pleading me to give them a chance. I asked them to send me a real life sketch of their art and they posted their “sketch”.
Said “Sketch”:
Anyways, stay safe out there lovelies!
To not leave my blog in the dark, here’s a preview of some rough shots for that animatic I’m working on :))
I feel this con.cept fits very well with vis.ual storyte.lling met.hods we can chattt dc is (e.u.p.h.a.a.0.0.1.) ignoree dotss whileee addingg
This was commented on one of my Sandman posts, expanding a poem from the canon.
Oh, you don't say, poetry from a comic lends itself well to visual storytelling? Wow!
Look, I get it that bots don't actually think, but why on earth would the human deploying the bot expect me to consider this any kind of legit interaction??
"Hey can you message me? I have something important to tell you its about to your account, but i cant message you idk whyy??"
Nyenyenyenyeee I'm a stUupid sCamMr scUm with nOo lifEEee nyenye.
Anyways, mooties please beware of these types of comments, okay? Report and block the accounts, they are already hacked so it's not even worth responding at all, just report, delete the comment and block.
I'm sorry for actual victims of financial struggle but I'm so sick of being spammed by bots and scammers who don't even put in the effort to change the text and make multiple accounts.
I wanted to keep my inbox open for anyone to ask or request something art-related or anything in general but I'm going to close it for now. Sorry for Inconveniencing anyone who would've been interested in requesting anything.
Scam-Spam
So.
Long story short, I have a slight problem with spam. I have been renting rooms in my house, usually to students, for the past eight years. In those eight years, I’ve had over a dozen very lovely and problem-free tenants (and one asshole, but only one). Invariably, whenever one of them graduates or otherwise moves out and I must advertise anew, I get scam messages via email.
This is not new. Back when I was new to this, I was contacted by a ‘student’ that ended up being very obviously a scammer, and communicated with them right up to the point of receiving a cheque in the mail... for the incorrect amount of rent and damage deposit, and from a different mailing address that the student (complete with bikini-clad stock photos) claimed to be hailing from. The cheque and a copy of all correspondence ended up with local police.
(In my experience, this seems to be a rather regular MO - correspond via email as an international student, disregard all statements of how much the room costs to secure, send a cheque for too much, and then claim to need the difference back for ‘moving costs’... not to mention, the cheque will bounce. Be aware, folks.)
So I’ve got an available room, and I’m getting the scam-spam again. With experience behind me, they are very easy to spot. Recently, most of them have gone silent when I respond, ‘You do realize you’re going to be living with two married women, yes?’ or ‘Wow, your inquiry sounds exactly like that of [I am totally using this name in my next work of fiction], do you know her?’. They are always female.
However, I’ve become bored.
When presented with inquiry emails including such stellar penmanship as “ I am 29 years old,i gentle, neat, respectful,i mind my own business, no smoking,no overnight guest,no party,i promise to keep the place neat as you ever wanted,my favorite colours are blue and white” and “ Do tell me the asking price per month and how do i secure it before coming over?” (copied exactly from the email, after the only two ads of mine explicitly specify the costs and rental details), I am tempted to reply along the lines of, The room is still available, however it is painted Classic Eggshell and Tempera Puce, is this okay? or Rent is two cases of Crystal Pepsi and three brownies per month, please confirm.
I posited this question to my wife. She suggested I respond that rent is free, but tenants are required to convert to our church (note, we have no church, but arrangements could be presented easily, given the religious reference texts we’ve got in our library).
I recognize that this might indicate we are both slightly horrible people, and I have most of a bottle of white wine in me, but frankly my dear, the spirit of Deadpool compels me. How shall I best proceed with the scam-spam?
