If someone who you may know on Facebook reaches out to you for the first time in Messenger to have a conversation, find a way to confirm their identity. I’ve just concluded an aimless 2 week conversation with someone who I thought was a friend I have on Facebook but in fact, their Facebook account been hacked. Ultimately I expect I’d be asked to click on a link or would be re-directed to another site, but in the meantime it was a confusing waste of time.
