The evangelical Liberty University president, who helped give Trump the Christian vote in 2016, aims to influence voters again

Morals are “the rules that govern which actions are right and which are wrong.” Morals represent “the prevailing standards of behavior that enable people to live cooperatively in groups. Moral refers to what societies sanction as right and acceptable.” Here are a few basic morals, on which pretty much everyone would readily agree:

HONESTY: Tell the truth; keep your promises; be trustworthy; have integrity

RESPONSIBILITY: Be dependable; be accountable; take responsibility

FAIRNESS: Seek justice; act in a just way; do not cheat

HUMANITY: Respect others; be forgiving; be kind; be compassionate; treat others as you would want to be treated; be tolerant of differences

POLITENESS: Have patience; act in socially acceptable ways; have humility; keep your self-control

The utter failure of the current occupant of the Oval Office on every single one of these morals is notorious.

Trump is the most dishonest person ever to hold political office in the United States (and that’s saying a lot). He has told literally thousands of lies in the past couple of years alone, and broken dozens of his empty campaign promises.

Trump refuses to admit when he is wrong or makes a mistake. He denies responsibility for his own malfeasance, and he claims credit for things with which he had nothing to do. He even praises his own lack of dependability, boasting that his “unorthodox” approach gives him negotiation advantages. (There is no indication that this works.)

Trump accuses people of crimes with absolutely no basis, and insists on their guilt even after they are proven innocent. He uses the U.S. Justice Department as his own personal enforcer against his political opponents. And he not only cheated on his spouses, but bragged of it.

Trump has cruelly attacked--both politically and personally--pretty much everyone who isn’t a fellow straight white American conservative Christian male: Mexicans, Muslims, refugees, women, Hispanics, African-Americans, Jews, immigrants, the LGBT+ community, Asian-Americans, and of course Democrats/liberals/progressives.

Trump positively relishes his defiance of societal norms. He loves coming up with insulting nicknames for everyone and everything he doesn’t like. His volatile temper, lack of self-control, and screaming fits are legendary. He falsely stereotypes and viciously attacks minorities, but defends white supremacists and neo-Nazis, parrots their talking points, and speaks at their events. He praises foreign despots, while undermining American institutions like the press, the media, and the FBI. He has mocked women, the disabled, native Americans, the poor, victims of sexual assaults, foreign leaders, entire countries, the Pope, and innumerable others. He bragged about the size of his genitals on live national television. I could go on.

Does any of this make Trump immoral? Nope. At least not to white male conservative Evangelical Christians:

“Asked if the president was a good moral example, Falwell said: ‘Absolutely. Ever since I’ve known him, he’s been a good, moral person, a strong leader, a tough leader – and that’s what this country needs.’”

So who is immoral? You guessed it:

“Falwell Jr said the Democratic party and its supporters were ‘no longer liberals – they’ve become fascists, they’re Brownshirts. You believe like them or you’re out.’ ... He added: ‘The most intolerant people in the country are those that preach tolerance.’”

Some state regulators are scrutinizing nonprofit Christian cost-sharing ministries that enroll Americans struggling to pay for medical care, but aren’t legally bound to cover their members’ claims.

When is a health plan not insurance? When it's a "Christian" "cost-sharing" "ministry" with no obligation to pay "members" claims.

There are very good reasons why the neologism "scamvangelical" exists, why it is called "the Almighty Dollar", and why it says "In God We Trust" on American currency.
