It had been a while since Claude had practiced with his sword work. After the awkwardness, he was surprised Ferdinand wanted to train with him. Who was Claude to say no? So, of course, they took to the training grounds.

Ferdinand was Claude’s last pick. But, hey, what was the harm?

The harm was the fact that that Ferdinand was simply better than him at swordplay. The harm was the fact that Claude found himself pinned up against a wall by Ferdinand, his chest heaving as he stared up into his eyes, his own eyed wide. Fuck. Fuck. The thought of that night flashed behind his eyes.

This wasn’t happening. This could not be happening. He was not developing feelings for Ferdinand.

“You could at least buy me dinner before you have your way with me,” he teased, trying to patch over his own anxiety. He could hear himself though. If Ferdinand didn’t have him pinned, Claude would have made a strategic exit.

The gods had a terrible sense of humour.
