I find black walls seriously sexy and they're currently sneaking into three of the rooms in my imagined abode.
The bedroom is an obvious choice - there's nothing more seductive than a black-based over-sized floral print - though I'd probably limit it to a statement wall behind a four-poster bed as I love waking up to see sunlight on white.
Jenna Lyons' black bedroom as featured in Living etc.:
I adore this ornate four-poster bed, along with all its linens and cushions, and I'm picturing this against my feature black wall:
Vivienne Westwood's Magnolia wallpaper in black:
The bedroom would naturally spill over into a luxe en-suite bathroom, by which I mean the utter adult luxury of a room for bathing and very little else (i.e. no toilet or sink in sight). Here I'd go for pitch-black walls with a deep tub sunken into black marble shot with white, lifted by a huge, gilded, ornate mirror, and a little jewel-coloured velvet chair for company.
Finally, I'd opt for a dramatic black dining room with warm wood and tan leather furniture, lots of gold and brass features to brighten such as tableware, a statement, low-hanging light, and art deco cocktail cart, and perhaps a mirror-panelled wall for added light and luxury.
Just add brightening touches such as Kelly Wearstler Kaleidoscope brass sculpture and Anthropologie's iron and mango wood shelving unit:
In short, black can make many a space sumptuous:
But black can also be industrial and urban cool:
And it can even be kid friendly and Scandi chic:
