Alexia loves y/n dearly. Of course she do, she is her girlfriend,and has been for nearly one year and a half.
She knows everything about her: how she loves being kissed on her cheeks, what series make her laugh, how she remembers the important things of the people she loves…
And she knows her flaws too, because everyone has them.
And for y/n her most notable one, just happened to be sleep talk and walk. Unfortunately, these habits tend to get worse during stressful periods (like nights before important games).
Y/N had absolutely no idea she did that.
At first, Alexia had assumed she knew. The first time it happened, she'd casually asked about it the next morning, but y/n just stared at her like she'd lost her mind. That made Alexia assumed it was one time thing. It wasn't. Alexia think its cute thought,but still, Alexia had never told her. Because she knew her girlfriend and the second she found out she will feel guilty. She will convince herself she was keeping Alexia awake. She will spend hours researching sleep disorders online and she will try every ridiculous tiktok advice she found. And if none of that worked? She probably will decide she shouldn't sleep with Alexia anymore and she couldn't afford her adorable and clingy girlfriend deciding she shouldn't sleep over anymore.
She has a plan to make sure y/n didn’t find out and she wasn’t on any danger neither (because she could fell or bump with a door): during stressful weeks, she always stayed with y/n (officially because she wanted to, unofficially because she liked knowing y/n wasn't going to accidentally walk into a wall). And during away trips? Alexia always made sure they shared a room. Captain privileges existed for a reason.
Everything was perfect,until Las Palmas, until the Copa de la Reina final and until Pere Romeu decided to ruin her life.
The team gathered around reception while the room assignments were handed out. Alexia barely glanced at hers,when she did,she froze.
-What happened Capi? You look so tense, you are not going to die for not being paired with y/n.- Kika teased, noticing the way Alexia shoulder tense and knowing how protective Alexia is for y/n.
-Yes, sure…-Pina said, putting her arms around y/n shoulders.-Don’t worry,Ale, I will take care of her.- At this y/n only laugh.
-It’s fine Ale, we can survive one night.
-You can, Alexia definitely not.-Mock Vicky. Alexia just buffs, and puts a hand around y/n waist and kiss her head.
-All of you should have more respect for your captain.
When Alexia sees Romeu, she splits from the girls telling them she has to talk with him about tactical issues for the next match day, not leaving before kissing y/n.
Unfortunately, Pere was no help. She tried to argue with him, insisting it would be better for everyone, but he told her that one of the younger players had already asked to room with her friend, and he didn’t want to give the impression that veterans were getting special treatment. Barça logic was Barça logic. Alexia hated Barça logic at that moment.
So Alexia spent the entire day stressed, of course. Because y/n would sleepwalk and then people would find out. And Y/N would feel guilty and mad with Alexia for not telling her and then y/n wouldn’t sleep with Alexia even again.
Night arrived, Alexia tried to sleep but she couldn't. After one hour rolling over on bed, she looked at the hour, 1AM. Alexia stared at the ceiling.
Then suddenly she has an idea. She was the captain, meaning,she had access to every room. Slowly, a smile appeared on her face.
Five minutes later she was standing outside Y/N's room. Just a quick check, just to make sure she was good, and maybe lie beside her for five minutes.
So Alexia carefully unlocked the door but ...immediately bumped into a chair. The noise echoed through the room and then a sleepy voice came from the dark. Fuck. It was Pina.
-Alexia?What are you doing?
-Emm…Nothing?-Pina looked at her.
-You have a problem. Y/N isn’t going to disappear…Seriously, look for help and let me sleep.
-What? No, it's not that…It’s just…-Pina crossed her arms.
-Then what is it?-Alexia opened her mouth but nothing came out.
Because she couldn't exactly say: I'm here because my girlfriend occasionally sleepwalks and once tried to have a conversation with a wardrobe. So she said:
-I dont know where there are…my…headphones…and I remember y/n have them and well, I cant sleep without…white noise, yes,that..
-Alexia, you aren't very good at lying,you know that,right?
-Tell me the true or I will tell Kika and Clara you come to see y/n sleep.
-Dont you dare…They would never leave me alone… Okay fine, fine, I will tell you.
Alexia told her about the sleepwalking.
-So she sleepwalks? And she doesn’t know?
-It’s not a big deal, Alexia. You’re just very protective.
At that moment, they heard movement. Y/N shifted in bed.
-Pina?-She mumbled, eyes half open.- Who the hell are you talking to?
Y/N opens her eyes a little more and it’s then when she sees Alexia.
-Alexia? Why? What the hell are you doing here?
Y/N sat up slowly and sleepy, narrowing her eyes.
-She doesn't know where her headphones are.-Pina said, trying to help her poor captain.
-You didn’t bring headphones. You forgot them at home. You told me on the plane.
-I am not stupid. You come here to check on me and I don’t know why.
-She’s just worried because you sleepwalk and she’s terrified you’ll fall.- Pina said knowing that if she doesn't intervine this isn't going to end and she really wants to sleep.
-That’s not true.-Y/N said.
-What? She deserves to know eventually.
Y/N looked between them and then laughed.
-No seriously… What is going on?
Neither answered and Alexia looked guilty.
Then y/n blinked, Pina wasn’t lying
Alexia seems to be very interested on the floor at that moment.
Alexia finally looked at her.
-You literally opened the wardrobe at three in the morning last month and asked me where the cows were- Alexia said.
-I never asked about cows.
-As entertaining as this is,I’d really like to sleep tonight.-She stand ups and pull out Alexia’s key from the captain's pocket.-I will sleep with Vicky tonight. I don’t particularly want to spend the next hour watching a couple arguing.
-Sure.-Pina stood up.-Bye.
When Pina left, closing the door behind her, the room suddenly felt much quieter.
Y/N crossed her arms. Alexia immediately knew she was in trouble. Not angry trouble,worse.Disappointed girlfriend trouble.
-You've known for how long?-Alexia looked at the floor.
Alexia risked looking up. Y/N was staring at her and then threw a pillow at her. Alexia caught it automatically.
The captain winced. Y/N stood up from the bed and for a few seconds neither spoke. Then y/n frowned.
-Wait.-Alexia didn't like that look.
-All those times you insisted on staying over…-Alexia looked away.
-You manipulated room assignments?
-Manipulated is a strong word.
-You manipulated room assignments.
-I suggested room assignments,it’s not the same.
-FOR A YEAR?-Another pillow hit her.
Y/N buried her face in her hands.
-Oh my god.- She really looks mortifying.
For the first time, Alexia started laughing. She couldn't help it. The expression on y/n's face was priceless. -Why are you laughing?
-I am not cute.-Y/N groaned dramatically and collapsed backward onto the mattress.
-This is so embarrassing.-Alexia immediately moved closer.
-You're not allowed to be embarrassed.
-I sleepwalk. Thats weird.-Alexia's expression softened.
-No, cariño.-The English player looked away. Alexia reached for her hand.
-I never told you because I knew you'd do exactly this.
-Felt embarrassed and guilty.-Y/N opened her mouth. Closed it. Because unfortunately Alexia was right.
-You should have told me.
-And manipulating hotel rooms is insane.
-And kind of creepy.-Y/N laughed.
Y/N rolled her eyes but she squeezed Alexia's hand anyway. The room fell quiet. Comfortable,until suddenly frowned again.
-So that's why you always stay over before big games.-Y/N's voice is softer now. Alexia froze. Caught.
-Fine. Every time.-Y/N laughed despite herself.
-Unfortunately.-Alexia smiled.
For a moment they simply looked at each other. The room became quiet again. Comfortable. Warm. Then y/n reached for her hand.
-Thank you.-Alexia blinked.
-For worrying.-The captain's heart melted instantly.
-You make it sound like a burden.
-It kind of is. Really, you could have told me and I would try to stop it or something.
-And that's the reason I didn't tell you.-Y/N looked at her -I knew if I told you you would start worrying about me, about you waking me up
-Really cariño, I love you and so much.
-You used captain privileges.
-I was conducting a safety inspection.
-Very important inspection.-Y/N laughed again. And Alexia decided she would absolutely use captain privileges again if necessary.
Eventually, the laughter faded and Y/N settled against her, immediately curling into Alexia's side like she always did, one arm wrapped around her waist as if she'd never intended to sleep anywhere else. Alexia pulled the blanket over them and pressed a kiss into her hair. For a moment she simply held her, enjoying the familiar weight of her girlfriend against her chest.
-You know why I never told you?-she murmured softly.
-Because I know you. The second you found out, you would've worried. You would've spent hours reading things online, convinced yourself you were bothering me, probably tried every ridiculous remedy on TikTok, and then you'd stop sleeping with me because you'd think you were making my life harder. -Y/N opened her mouth to protest, but Alexia squeezed her tighter. -And because I like this,-she admitted quietly.-I like knowing you're here. I like waking up and finding you've somehow stolen all the blankets. I like your weird conversations with invisible cows. I like taking care of you.-Y/N buried her face deeper into her neck, clinging to her even more.
-You're ridiculously clingy for someone who calls me clingy.-she mumbled.
Alexia smiled and kissed the top of her head again.
-Maybe.-Then, softer, with all the honesty she usually kept hidden.-But you're the love of my life, cariño. If I have to lose a few hours of sleep every now and then just to make sure you're okay, that's the easiest decision I'll ever make.
Almost immediately, Y/N wrapped both arms around her and practically climbed on top of her, making Alexia laugh quietly.
-See?-Y/N muttered.-Definitely the clingy one.-Alexia didn't even bother arguing this time, just holding her closer as they drifted off to sleep together, exactly where they both wanted to be.
