OHH THE PIKELAN ANGST IS GOING TO BE SO GREAT @simplysparrow14 SHES NOT LOOKING AT HIM SHES DRUNK N MAD OHH NO
Preliminary Poll
Scanlan Shorthalt
Submission reason:
Okay this might be a controversial take but I'm saying it anyway - so if you aren't super familiar with Critical Role it's a dnd livestream show that is actually now a cartoon on Prime, and what they did to Scanlan in the cartoon is...yikes. Like yeah, in the liveshow Scanlan was always dirty-minded and a jokester, but he was also incredibly witty and intelligent. He's one of the oldest in the party and has the wisdom to prove it, and a level of snark that is pretty hard to match. Most of this intelligence is gone in the cartoon, and any of the charm he had in the liveshow is nowhere to be seen. He just comes across as a perv - which is so annoying because honestly one of the only reasons Scanlan manages to not be absolutely insufferable in the liveshow is because of how witty he is and how much wisdom he clearly has, and it just isn't present in the cartoon at all. This is also super depressing because it might mess up a really important arc for him when the show reaches it. Because Scanlan is also a masterfully-crafted sad clown archetype. He suffers from a very deep depression and believes none of his friends truly care about him - they just keep him around for the jokes and heals. Of course, he hides this from the party until it boils over and things turn ugly - it's one of the most heartwrenching scenes in the show and it's so expertly improvised. This arc is absolutely not going to be anywhere near it's full potential in the cartoon because the setup just isn't there. The bond within the party isn't the same, and I'm not sure how they can really repair it in time for the arc. It's honestly really disappointing that the adaptation did him so dirty when the original character was so interesting. Anyway sorry for the rant it's just a lot of people think LOVM can do no wrong but imo they really dropped the ball with this
Propaganda:
nah but thanks for running this!
Look what they did to Scanlan!
He was fucked over!
I'm fine with his portrayal in the cartoon
I don't know him
I don't know enough about his other version to dispute this

Crinktober Day 1: Favorite Campaign 1 Character → Scanlan Shorthalt
Scanlan has always been near and dear to my heart. His whole character arc surprised me and I found myself loving him more and more as I watched c1. Do you spice?

It occurs to me I didn't upload day 9 so here's a dual upload! My oc Dalis for day 9 and a quick Scanlan for day 10!
thinking about scanlan teaching percy how to shave. think about it. im pretty sure percy's father didn't teach him (cough cough) and I've always felt like scanlan would see percy as a son. And one day scanlan notices how percy has small, recent scars all across his chin and realizes that percy tried to shave without knowing how to and decides to teach him.
VOX MACHINA CONTENT ALERT!!!!
THE INFO ABOUT THE ONE-SHOTS THEY'LL BE PLAYING. IM SO EXCITED (I'm not going to be there but YAYYYY)
