Imperial Scans is late, isn't it?
Yeah, it seems like they are having problems with raws.

Imperial Scans is late, isn't it?
Yeah, it seems like they are having problems with raws.
i just got into tg and i dont understand, why is this fandom so awful to touka? did she do something? i havent read the whole manga yet
As far as I know... I haven’t really seen Touka hate around the fandom.
(Though maybe that’s cause I’m fortunately in the part of the fandom where I don’t usually see much character hate at all.)
If you’re talking about the ‘fuck Touka’ in the scanlations though, that has been a running inside joke in the ImperialScans scanlation team for a while now. As for why they inserted the phrase or why they seem to dislike Touka, I don’t know.

Hi excuse me, I'm sure someone must have ask that but those "Fuck Touka" that we can find in the Tokyo ghoul re chapters, are they put there by Imperial Scans or are they in the raws as well? And if that's Imperial Scans' doing, do they dislike Touka, is it a joke? I'm not sure I see the point?? Thank you!
It's not in the raws. From what I heard, it had started initially as an inside joke by one of the members of the scanlation team but they forgot to remove it. I'm aware that it has appeared more than once however. I'm not sure if they dislike Touka, but I don't think so. I don't find it amusing either, neither do I approve of it. However, personally, it doesn't bother me so I ignore it.
Note: I'm not part of Imperial Scans, and I'm not in a position to tell you what Imperial Scans thinks about this or why they do what they do.
However, in the light of the recent hate they have been receiving, I would like to just say that if you do not like their scanlations, you could either give them feedback politely or leave them alone. Please don't be rude to them. They are scanlating TG:re for free and have no obligation to anyone to do anything.
If Kawa scans are just being lazy... why would they throw such a pissy fit over other people translating the same stuff if they want?? Surely they don't expect they can half-ass it and not have anybody else touch it. Seeing that Kawa person's comments though it seems like they're just bad & desperately need an English editor. Either way, more [better] translations of Jack are only a good thing.
I'm sorry, it is not my intention to insult Kawa Scans. I still think that the are doing us a service by trying to help us to scanlate TG.
Kawa had a tantrum because they had already started scanlating a few chapters, but /a/ had already uploaded their own version of some of the chapters that Kawa were doing.
I'll be blunt here, but I hope Kawa Scans is not scanlating for the recognition. They seem to think that scanlating is some sort of competition, and they rush chapters out. I hope not. I hope I'm just overthinking.
And they really do need a proofreader. I'm not sure why they're releasing chapters without having it checked for its grammar first.
When I said "I wonder if they're being lazy", I was talking about the translations for JACK. I think there were parts that were only partially translated. I could be wrong. Or maybe instead of being lazy, they rushed this chapter out without doing another check?
I think several people have already gave them feedback that their English translations have a lot of errors and that they should have someone check their English.
As much as I respect scanlation groups in general for volunteering their service, I was disappointed with Kawa Scans because of their attitude.
I hope Kawa Scans will take their job seriously and do it with the right priorities. When you upload scanlations on a public manga reader site for everyone to read, readers expect that you're good enough, expect your scanlation to at least have a certain standard to it. If you upload low quality scanlations, it's inevitable that people will criticise your work.

About translating JACK: Tbh, the Chinese scans are in traditional Han and this makes translating more difficult for me. Although I'm Chinese, my proficiency in Chinese is considered sucky amongst my peers. I also have problems translating names / nouns from Chinese back to Japanese romanization. I'll probably still do it anyway (just to give a different version for comparison) albeit at a much slower pace.
Anastasiadinara drama? What happened?
I don't like to speak bad about scanlation groups, but I guess you should see it for yourself. Anastasiadinara is from Kawa Scans and she posted on the TG's batoto page. You can read about it in shiningchild's posts here and here.
i read the raws and one thing bothers me about the translations in chapter 100 where tsukiyama suggests to forge an allegiance with naki and it was translated as 'four gem lions' which is not true because naki just repeated exactly what tsukiyama said, but written in katakana instead of kanji too indicate that he doesn't know the word (instead of mishearing it) and i don't know it's not that important but still? translation quality has been pretty low lately ;_;
I think /a/ was thinking to translate that essence by making Naki say something of similar pronounciation. It would have been difficult to make Naki say something of exact pronounciation, and suggest that Naki just doesn't know the word. Making Naki simply repeat the Shuu's words convey the meaning that Naki didn't understand what Shuu meant, but wouldn't convey the message that Naki's vocabulary is limited.
I guess it's actually pretty difficult to translate the same nuances in the original into English, especially because the two languages are really different.
I do agree with you that the scanlation quality have fallen lately. I guess they're prioritising speed more than quality recently and it shows. I'm still impressed with how well they can scanlate in such a short period of time, but I do see careless mistakes that could have been avoided.
I think they're doing it because a lot of people are feeling impatient about the chapters. Unfortunately, you can't please everyone, because quality gets sacrificed for speed.
Eventually there'll be better quality versions of the TG chapters though, so maybe when those are released you could re-read them again. :)
tbh /a/ translations kinda irk me the translations are sometimes of questionable quality and like, i know they're spending their precious time on the scanlations but doing only the chapters they like is doing nobody a favour but themselves
I can’t say I don’t understand how you feel.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate /a/.
