Otis Mcdonald - Scarlet Fire (RHYTHM DOCTOR CUSTOM MAP)
I made a DankPods classic song, the one and only headphone death bringer itself, Scarlet Fire, into a rhythm doctor map.
(EDIT)
You can DL it here, gahdayum i almost forgor the DL link!
This was supposed to be a quick little map but i ended up doing WAY more than i originally intended. I even made custom BACKGROUNDS for this game in Pixaki.
If you're wondering who DankPods is, he's this funny australian who reviews manky old MP3 players, headphones, and funny tech! You should go watch his stuff, i recommend it for a good time!
BTW, if you want the pixelart i made for this map so you can use it as a background, here it is!
Here I am for the Ninjago Secret Santa of @coco-jaguar once again, always a pleasure participating! 💜
My giftee this year is @strangermask, Merry Christmas! 😊😊 Your Megamind Kai AU was really cool, so I went for a fic with Scarlet Fire (Evil Kai) and Echo having a Christmas day! 🌲🌲 I went with my interpretation of their dynamic and bond, I had fun so thank you! I hope you like it!
More about the Megamind Kai AU here, where Kai doesn’t remember his past and is the ninja’s enemy! 🤯 Alright, here we go!
It had taken Echo a while.
The Underworld wasn't exactly the most welcoming place of all, but with all the ribbons and the sparkly decorations even their chamber underground looked more festive. A couple of shining balls there, over here, and on top of-
The door was slammed open in the distance.
"I'm done! I swear I'm done for real this time! I'm done with that so called Dark Lord!" The sudden voice coming from the entrance made him lose his balance over the ladder, and Echo grabbed the first thing he found to keep himself up. "I don't care he saved me from the streets, I don't care he's in charge, he can put that weapon in his... huh, Echo?"
As it turned out, his hand had gone over the string of lights, and while falling from the ladder Echo had managed to roll himself into it. He was currently hanging upside down.
He blinked. Scarlet Fire blinked. At last Echo smiled, because yay his best friend was back.
"Hi Scarlet, how was your day?"
"Well crappy so far, I'd rather for it not be crappy and confusing. What in the world are you doing? What is all this?"
"Oh yeah! Yes!" Echo tried to squirm into his improvised cage, despite the string holding on quite intensely. "I was in Ninjago City today to monitor the actions of the serpentines, and the entire town was decorated! I heard it is a winter festivity of some kind!"
"Is that so." Scarlet raised an eyebrow at him. "And you thought of bringing a celebration of cold into the boiling Underworld, why?"
Echo shrugged.
"It looked fun. We haven't had much fun ever since Lord Garmadon's son joined the ninja."
Scarlet grunted, clenching his hold over his weapon. He looked up - or down, Echo was still hanging over there -, narrowed his eyes, and at last he slashed the string freeing the robot from his prisony. A perfect and merciless shot as usual, or perhaps he really just wanted to vent just a bit of his current frustration.
The rusty robot rolled over the broken lights.
"Aww, they were expensive too."
"We're part of Lord Garmadon's army, we do not care about rules. Why would you even pay common civilians?" Again, the robot shrugged. Scarlet sighed. "Whatever, are these migraine inducing decorations the only thing you corrupted our base with?"
In all response Echo got up, wiped his from crumbles that were not there - he just liked the movement -, and smiled again.
"Are you hungry?"
Scarlet blinked. Then he smirked.
"You know the answer to that."
Apparently meals were supposed to be generous during such holiday, something the robot was extremely happy about. It hadn't been long since he got the passion for cooking, and it was always a new experience. Chicken with filling, chicken broth with pasta, pork and smashed potatoes. It was probably too much considering the only beings that ate in the Underworld were Garmadon - occasionally-, Scarlet - consistently -, and Echo himself every once in a while - and he didn't exactly need it.
He had made sure everything was cooked at the best of his abilities, yet Scarlet seemed still a bit distant. It wasn't new - it was better than when he would smash plates because anger -, but it was a little more lasting than usual.
Echo simply let him eat his meal - with impressive speed and aggression too -, took the dirty plates away to clean later - which meant going all the way back to the surface and wait for the rain later - then brought the strawberry and whipped cream cake.
Scarlet managed to go from irritated, to distant, to pretty much gloomy - he was a lively guy.
"... they were eating stuff like this too."
"Who?"
"The ninja." Ah, there it was, what had been bothering all along. "I was in charge to spy them all day, that was my mission. Me, a war lord of fire, doing the same task of just another brainless skeleton!" Fists were slammed in the table - they were going to have to change that one too soon. Echo nodded, despite not really understanding his frustration - also skeletons did not have a brain in the first place so the added adjective was useless. "They also had the place decorated like this."
Oh. The robot sank his head between his shoulders, looking over the uncut cake.
"Sorry I did something they did."
"Please, they have no taste whatsoever!" Scarlet burst into laughter, it made the moment good again. "The blue ninja had electrocuted all the lights, the sensei was wearing red for some reasons, and the black ninja was even hanging socks! This is... better."
His best friend trying to be comforting was kind of adorable in a way. He was so in control and determinate in battle, it was a rare sight. Echo smiled, feeling relieved, going to cut the cake. He stopped right as he was to put the knife in.
"... what was Zane doing?"
Scarlet gulped, turning around, likely not to show any kind of compassion.
Echo didn't blame that distance, or how weirs the situation made him feel. Unlike this fire lord, he didn't harbor feelings of hatred towards that unusual group of people. His interest were on the white one only. The reason why they looked the same were still unknown to him, Echo would have never known about him if Scarlet hadn't found him on that lighthouse and brought him along. Lord Garmadon had promised they were going to find out l, while destroying the ninja.
So far no luck.
"I, huh, I don't know." Scarlet cleared his voice. "Meditating I guess, helping out. Probably crying about how ugly he looks, not even a bit of rust." That wasn't likely to be true but it was nice to pretend. "Not like it matters because guess what!" Scarlet was always kind of unpolite, never waiting for Echo to actually say what. "The entire point of this mission wasn't to find out about the ninja's weaknesses, no no no! Not for an advantage, not for anything! All Lord Garmadon wanted to know was how was his brat doing on this merry day!" Another slam on the table - yes, it was totally creaking.
Despite the usual excess of emotion Scarlet wasn't wrong. Ever since the Dark Lord's son had joined the ninja his father had been acting different. It was likely that his uncle had simply decided to take him in, but it was also likely that Lord Garmadon wasn't going to see it as anything other than his pride on the other side.
Echo brought a piece of cake in front of his best friend, who seemed close to melt the cream with his mind alone.
"He seems to be more connected to his son than it would be expected from him."
"But that's the point, this is a weakness! He literally berated me because I have nothing better to say about Lloyd other that he was chugging hot chocolate like an addict! How are we supposed to rely on someone that given the choice between Ninjago and his kid he wouldn't even look at this island??" Scarlet grunted again, loudly. At last he picked up his fork and immediately went for the strawberry on top - again so very adorable of him. "I could do so much better if I was in charge. No baggage, no mercy, and no family to recall. We would take over by tomorrow morning."
Echo smiled, cutting his own piece in smaller pieces instead. He liked to section his food with precision, so that every bite tasted special.
"Your motivation is undeniably stronger."
"Right? How am I his underling still?? If I had the chance Ninjago would be mine, then we could do whatever we wanted!" He started to snicker, like whenever he was liking an idea as it was forming into his mind - it had to be creepy for those who were actually humans. "I could have all the servants I want, also we could actually live on the surface! Every day we eat what we want, do what we want, finally being paid for our efforts!" He almost fell from his chair as he got another idea snicker. "And we could torture those pesky ninja! That blue one is so loud, bet it would be a blast!... and that way we can probe the white ninja, so he will tell us why he looks like you."
Echo looked in wonder at this person, who still wasn't looking at him out of pure bashfulness. Maybe it was a stupid statement, but the robot for once couldn't help himself.
"I always though you weren't going to need me once you were to take over Ninjago."
"Pff, that's the stupidest you've ever said! You're my right hand man, you lead my troops, I ne- huh, you're useful." Again hiding his feelings. Again expressing them so clearly anyway. Echo grinned, standing up from the table. "Whatever, is this celebration over? I need to punch something and if I don't get to the training area soon it might be you!" He was lying again. The robot was the only individual Scarlet seemed reluctant to even brush.
It made Echo happy that in some unusual, even contorted way he himself was the exception to this guy's raging fury. At last he picked up the present from under the table, a long black box with a single bow on top.
"On this festivity gifts are exchanged! This is for you Scarlet!"
The fire lord blinked, clearly taken back.
"Oh, huh, okay." He brushed away the bow, opened the box, and his eyes lightened up. Excellent, Echo was sure he had chosen the right blade the moment he had seen it. "Wow. This sword is beautiful." With expert hands he picked it up, looking at it from every angle. The handle was black with red strings around it, and a single symbol of fire was engraved onto the metal. "Where did you get it?"
"It was a blacksmith shop in Ignacia, this girl told me she made this model in honor of her missing brother. I thought it was perfect for you!" Echo was smiling. Scarlet was not. "Are you okay? Do you like it?"
For a moment it felt like he wasn't even there. Just a moment. Then he huffed in his usual way and carefully put the sword in the box.
"It's, uhm, it's adequate." It meant he loved it! Yay! "I don't have a gift for you though."
"It's okay, I don't need one."
"You know I hate depts, Echo."
He really did, to the point of making it a problem - Kruncha had regretted saving him from a serpentine given how obsessively helpful he was going... during training. They couldn't have that between them.
"... I will take a promise as a gift." Echo smiled. "That you will in fact, take over Ninjago, and do everything you said you were going to."
Scarlet Fire widened his eyes. Then, at last, a very eager grin appeared over his face.
"Like a deal. I like it."
"So," Echo extended his fist. "It's a promise?"
His best friend didn't even blink before bumping back, and suddenly Echo couldn't wait for those 'pesky ninja' to lose.
