4. If you went to college, does your major match your career/current job?
My undergrad was philosophy and math. I guess I am using my analytical reasoning from time to time. Then I got an mfa in making things up. Uh... so... yes?
19. Are the privileges of adulthood worth the responsibilities?
It’s not a zero sum game, but mostly, yes. Becoming an adult and being allowed to make my own decisions and live on my own was wonderful, because life at home had been difficult. In my 20s when I was living hand to mouth and was sometimes unable to pay rent on time or would run out of money for food and live on rice--that sucked. But for the past 11 years I’ve been married to an excellent person who shares everything with me. This shit is easier if you have a reliable partner or sibling or friend who splits chores and cheers you on and takes you to the ER or holds your hand when you’re sad. I try to do things for David so he doesn’t have to think about them and he’ll stop and pick up my Rx on the way home for me.
15 years ago I was in a very different place and my depression was out of control. It was really bad. So I might have answered this question differently then.
21. Is youth wasted on the young?
No. The vitality and enthusiasm a kid (able bodied and mentally healthy) might have at 16 can look enticing to a 50 year old man who’s back hurts and his knees crackle. He can’t leap out of bed and attack his day the way he did when he was 20 or 30.
As an adult you have experience and maybe some degree of wisdom, but you can’t do what you used to physically. (Though frankly someone who exercises and eats a diet that’s good for them can still do a lot of things at age 40 and 50.) And some adults look at kids and think--all that energy and enthusiasm--wasted on kids who aren’t doing anything with it.
STAHP. NO.
They are doing something. They’re forming into adults. If you gave them your aches and pains and fatigue and were like, go become adults now. That’s not going to work. They need to survive puberty and growth spurts and making mistakes while they try to understand how to be people in the world. They need all that energy to get through all that.

9. Bright room or dark room?In general, bright; but when I want to go to sleep I need it to be pitch black.

11. Favorite age you’ve been so far?I rather liked being 19-20. It was a time in my life when I was practicing a lot of self love and I was in a very good mental space.
24. You can only have one kind of sandwich. Every sandwich ingredient known to humankind is at your disposal.Does this mean that I can only eat one kind of sandwich for the rest of my life, or that that kind of sandwich is the only thing I can eat for the rest of my life? I am partial to vegemite and cheese sandwiches but only if I can eat other non-sandwich items. Otherwise I’d have to go with something more interesting and nutritious - like a ham, cheese and tomato toastie or salmon and avocado or egg and mayoniase and i was only supposed to be choosing one, wasn’t i?

1. when you have cereal, do you have more milk than cereal or more cereal than milk?I dont have cereal very often/ever, but always more cereal than milk. I don’t even have the milk usually. do some people actually do more milk?
2. do you like the feeling of cold air on your cheeks on a wintery day?yeah i guess. if the rest of me is warm, i guess.
3. what random objects do you use to bookmark your books?I do this terrible thing where I read actual books very rarely (i usually just read a lot of fanfiction, ive been reading the same book for like a year) and instead of bookmarking it like a normal person i will just close the book and then the next time i try to read i will spend 10 minutes looking for where i was and being very confused.
4. how do you take your coffee/tea?I dont drink it usually.
20. what’s your favorite eye color?when i was in high school I had a very big thing for like blue-green eyes. now eye colour is of little importance. they are all beautiful. it’s the emotion in the eyes that matters (god rae you’re such a sap).

3. Which Harry Potter character would be your best friend?I think I’d be in a squad with Ginny and Luna - Ginny because she’s badass and sassy, Luna because she’s low-key and accepting.
6. If you weren’t in the house you are in now, which other house could you see yourself in?If I weren’t the epitome of Hufflepuff, I’d be Ravenclaw because I like learning and I’m very creative. (A lot of people who don’t know me as well assume I’m a Ravenclawbecause I do well in school.)
30. What’s your patronus?A badger. (See above about me being the epitome of Hufflepuff.) More specifically, an engorgio-ed badger. (Please look into the Aggressive Hufflepuff Arthur AU fanart by deheerkonijn.) With people I care about I’m cuddly and nice, but I’m also really aggressive and always ready to protect my friends.
40. What animal would you bring to school with you?Whenever I think about this, I’m torn between owl and cat. But like. I love cats so much. I would definitely have a cat. No question.
