Quiet Scar The Emo gun #ScarLife #ScarGun #QuietGuns
Since #worldmentalhealthday just passed, I wanted to share something important. During my recovery from my foot surgery, being forced to sit still, I was able to confront my clinical depression, and seek treatment for it. After being able to face my depression, my entire life changed for the better.
Almost 3 years since the #surgery, I have full use of my phalanges. The scar reminds me to take my time and be present in my life. I will never forget the help I received from my loved ones during my recovery. The people who helped me with my laundry, and who took me to the grocery store, even if it was just to get out of the house on my knee #scooter. I thank everyone who helped me recover from the #injury, and the emotional revelations that came from being cooped up during my recovery. I can now “walk like a human” thanks to my PT team. I can stand on my two feet, in several ways, thanks to my beloved support system. (Almost) three years later, I feel better than I did before my injury. I’m grateful for those who stuck with me when I was at my most injured, both physically and mentally.
Over the last three years, I’ve healed in such a significant way. I have made positive choices, and kept honest and kind people in my life. So yes, I can now take a hike without feeling like my foot is going to break in two. But I can also embrace myself without shame or guilt. Here’s to healing and growing more and more. All my love
.

2 mile walk - sore, and weak toward the end but not unbearable. Thank god for my old faithful sneakers.
#ScarLife!!! Shout out to @the_zulynette
