          HIS  WORDS  CAUSE  AN  IMMEDIATE  ALMOST  VISCERAL  REACTION,   she  steps  back  from  him  as  if  he’s  slapped  her  ( which  he  would  never  do )   &   looks  to  the  side.   eyes  watch  the  pack  members  LIVING  THEIR  LIVES,   laughing   &   playing  with  each  other,   teaching  the  younger  ones  how  to  defend  themselves   &   her  hand  goes  to  the  SMALL  BUMP  where  their  own  baby  is  growing.   her  head  shakes  lightly,   slowly  finding  Derek’s  eyes  before  speaking.    ❝   I  HAVE  TOO.   they’re  my  family,   Der . . .  i  can’t       ❞    a  quiet  sigh  comes  from  her,   palm  rubbing  a  soothing  circle  over  the  bump  as  a  way  to  calm  herself.    ❝   i  can’t  lose  my  family  again.   I  WON’T  SURVIVE  IT.   ❞

          IT’S  IN  HER  NATURE  TO  PROTECT  HIM,   not  just  because  she’s  his  beta  but  also  because  the  thought  of  him  getting  hurt  SCARES  HER  more  than  anything  else  in  the  world.   she  remains  at  his  side,   watching  the  hunters  across  the  way  as  Derek  talks  with  the  one  in  charge.   a  meeting  was  arranged  after  A  SECOND  CIVILIAN  ATTACK,   the  pack  realizing  it  was  more  than  just  one  lone  supernatural  creature   &   the  hunters  needing  CONFIRMATION  that  they  weren’t  a  part  of  it.  eyes  keep  drifting  back  to  one  of  the  youngest  hunters  there,   his  fingers  twitching  by  his  gun   &   she  can  sense  he’s  a  wildcard       MUCH  LIKE  HERSELF.   it’s  a  breath  of  relief  when  they  come  to  an  agreement,   though  it  seems  NOT  EVERYONE  is  happy  with  the  decision.

         the  choice  is  made  quick   &   easy,   lunging  for  Derek  to  take  the  bullet  meant for  him.   she  takes  them  to  the  ground,   WOLFSBANE  already  burning  through  her  veins   &   she  lets  out  a  growl  between  gritted  teeth.   voices  are  distant  sounds  ;  HALF - HEARTED  APOLOGIES  from  the  hunters  as  they  pull  the  boy  towards  their  cars   &   yelling  from  the  other  wolves  present.   it  takes  her  a  moment  to  lift  her  head  from  the  crook  of  Derek’s  neck,   palm  going  to  cup  his  cheek  as  she  checks  over  the  rest  of  him  for  any  injuries.    ❝   ARE  YOU  OKAY ?   please  tell  me  you’re  okay !   ❞
