Shay Cormac Headcanons (Alphabetical)

Happy Shay Patrick’s Day everyone! @bunnyyumyum and I are proud to present a list of headcanons for this special day. Enjoy!

A-Arousal- what gets them aroused quickest

When you gently graze his body, like placing your arm on his and barely touching his skin. We can definitely see him as the physical type, and he would love it when you get all touchy with him. In addition, pulling his hair during a steamy session would also work loads, moaning his name in to his ears or something like that could definitely get him going crazy. You could also try wearing provocative clothes only in front of him, and do it rarely as well, so he has something to look forward to when he comes back, he sure does love a spontaneous woman. Tease him with it, you could perform a strip tease for him, and not let him touch you, even though we can see him being the dominant one always, some sub could work sometimes. Seeing his S/O stripped down to her underwear gets him going. Moreover, showering him with attention works like magic too.

B- Broken- what it takes to break them

If you betray his trust, he could spill all his sorrows to you, trust you with his deepest secrets. But, if you betray that trust, then consider your relationship/friendship a goner. Cheating obviously, that would be one of the main things, he would start overthinking, and make the load even heavier on himself by thinking that he was never good enough, or that he will never be good enough for anyone, especially the fact that he cannot escape his past. Lying would be another thing, again, this is linked with trust. So, if you lied to him, he would definitely not take it lightly, and would give you the cold or silent treatment whenever you try to talk to him. In addition, he won’t show you that he is hurt/broken, instead, he will try to act jolly or normal around his friends and especially you—but deep down he would be suffering.

Given his traumatic background, anything connected to the incidents trigger Shay. If and only if they keep adding up, he will reach his breaking point. It would take a lot to do so, but still, that kind of trauma is no joke.

C- Can’t- one thing that they can’t do in life/refuse to do

Kill an innocent. Never, and no matter what happens, Shay will always refuse to kill or take an innocent life. However, if it were for business reasons—then he will hesitate to carry out the necessary deeds. Also, we do believe that no matter how much time passes by, the traumatizing events of the Lisbon earthquake will keep on haunting him day and night. Therefore, we don’t see any force on earth that could make/persuade him to take an innocent life. Especially that of a child or mother.

D- Denial- something they’re in denial about

Shay would occasionally deny the fact that he is all over his past, and that he is going to start a new beginning. But we really don’t ever see him totally forgetting about his past incidents. However, moving on from all the miseries; he would usually deny having feelings for someone, and he would be so good at hiding them that it won’t be so obvious in the first place. Shay would brush it off with a joke, or just anything really to stir the conversation away from someone whom he is interested in.

E- Eager- something they are eager to do in life

Even though he always seems to travel with Gist on the Morrigan, we like to think that Shay is the type that would get to excited and hyped up to go and sail across the seas, to discover more places and uncharted Islands. Especially if it’s with someone he is interested in, someone other than that clueless chatterbox called Gist (we love him though)! Shay feels like there is still more to the world, he wants to go beyond the colonies, and beyond the Atlantic—maybe sail to Asia, Europe (Well he already went to Versailles) or Australia even.

F- Fitness- how often they work out and what they prefer doing for a workout

His job requires him to be fit, since there’s a lot of running going on—along with fist fights and things of that sort. So, even though he does not really ‘train’ or a daily basis, he often makes time to practice his sword skills with some dummy, maybe even sparring or punching a heavy bag would work. we don’t think that he has any workout buddies, but he would sure enjoy it more if he were training with someone else. In addition, we don’t think that Shay likes to be ‘trained’ by someone else, and doesn’t like to be told what to do, he often likes to experiment on his own, and develop his own fighting style.

G- Guarded- something they always guard (item can physical or mental like their feelings)

Hmm maybe what they believe in? Like Shay believes that the Templars are the ones treading the right path, unlike the Assassins. Therefore, he would always fight for what he believes is true, no matter what. Another thing would be his dignity, he lost all his friends and probably family too—so he’s really alone in this world. So, we like to think that he often defends his roots, rights, and things like that. Another thing would be the Tree of Life (Yggdrasil) symbol that he carries around almost where ever he goes, it probably means a lot to him since it’s always around his belts, so we think someone he cared about gave it to him a while back? Maybe during his pre-teens or early teens even. ALSO, the man’s always touchy about luck, so you just can’t comment or bother his luck manufacturing.

H- Hell- what will make their life hell

Not like his life isn’t hell already, but again, losing a loved one. Shay lost so much over the past years of his life, so we wouldn’t really say that he got used to it, but people in the business that he’s in don’t live that long. So, in this case, losing a loved one, like someone whom he has feelings for would completely destroy him. For example, if his lover died, that would have meant that she took a huge chunk off his heart, leaving him lonely and dead on the inside. Moreover, imagine what he was thinking when he left Lisbon. That was 3 months on a ship going back to Davenport Homestead. Would you be able to sleep after you caused an earthquake that killed thousands? Thought so.

I - Ingenuity- how clever they can be in tough situations

Shay is an experienced fighter, and well he can be clever in certain situations that require quick thinking. Over the past years, he’s been through situations that required him to think fast; therefore, we see him being the type that would try to come up with the best solution to a problem really quickly. However, just because he came up with a quick solution, that does not mean that it was the best one (or delivered the best outcome). Since most of the time he tends to consult with Haytham or his other comrades before taking a final decision, probably because he is hesitant about it. The man’s pretty darn clever when he wants to be, to the point of using other people to his advantage.

J- Jealous- how easily they get jealous

He could tolerate it a bit, like if some man complimented his significant other, then he would just let it pass. However, if they begin to hit on them, then that’s a totally different story. So, I think that he does have a somewhat low tolerance for that kind of stuff? Because he likes to think that his significant other is for him and only him, and if anyone touches them, cat calls, or even shows any signs of interest them he would definitely intervene. He can be very possessive and anyone who would get in his way would be thrown across the place.

K- Killer- how old they were when they first killed someone

Probably in his early teens, while he was messing around in the streets with some older men. Liam would usually try to get him out of such fights, but the men would come after him still. Since Shay mainly grew up with Liam, we don’t think that he really had anyone to ‘guide’ him during his adolescent years; therefore, probably killing one of his enemies in an attempt at self-defense. And we would see it being really random, or by ‘chance’, since he wasn’t as skilled with the sword. Since he went on trips with his father on a ship back then, it’s canon that he has killed a certain ship captain to defend his father.

L- Lust- what they lust after in life

Other than your booty? Personal freedom. Not that he was deprived of it fully, but maybe because Shay does not like following a certain set of rules, and we see him as someone who would try to break the rules every now and then. During his years with the Assassins, the man felt like he was always being pushed around by his mentors and teachers; therefore, not having or hoping to have the personal freedom that he always dreamed of. But, now that he’s with the Templars, we don’t see it being different from the way it was with the Assassins. Yes, maybe there isn’t really anyone to go and follow him around the place, and point out his mistakes—but the Order still does place some restrictions.

M- Maturity- how mature they are as an adult

Shay changed so much since he left the Assassins, and it shows a lot in the game to. He became wiser and more mature as a result of finding himself again, starting a new page with the Templars. So, we can definitely see him being way more mature now as a Templar than as an Assassin, mainly because back then all what he wanted to do was kill, fuck, and well—be free. It’s not like things changed now, but he definitely has his prioritize straight, and knows when to have fun and when to keep it professional and serious. His maturity can be measured throughout the game when he tries to stop the Assassins from meddling with the artifacts, recognizes his mistake, and stops blaming the Assassins for what happened.

N- Negligence- what they can be negligent about

Communication. Since he’s always out at sea, he doesn’t have the time to really write letters back to his loved ones. Work consumes most of his time, so all he does when he comes back home is go straight to bed, if not sit up all night and drink. It’s not that he doesn’t want to write back, it’s just that he is either too tired to do it, or just can’t find the time to do it. Somehow the Lisbon incident was his fault too, seeing as he could have distinguished the artifact from the real Pieces of Eden, and his better judgement would outweigh Achilles’ orders. He has been warned when he heard about Haiti too.

O- Opinionated- one thing they are very opinionated about

The Templar principles, we don’t see him really opposing them fully, though he might have some doubts about some of them, and may break a couple of codes; however, we don’t see him changing his mind about them ever, especially because it was one of the big decisions that he had to make in his life as an adult, he finally found where he belongs, and doesn’t plan on going rogue ever again. In addition, he will defend these principles until he dies, and will definitely try to pass them on to his children and grandchildren. Moreover, he’s a huge flirt and he tends to be very opinionated about women.

P- Persistent- how persistent can they be about something

Well like we mentioned above, if it is something that he holds highly, then he tends to be very stubborn about it, and finds it hard to keep an open-mind when it comes to such things. Like, if an Assassin came and explained to him about their tenets once again, Shay would be up for a good debate/argument, and even if he lost it—he would still defend what he believes in the most, even until the point of death.

Q- Quest- what they feel their quest in life is/their main goal in life

To fight for a better world. He turns to the Templars because he seeks not only vengeance on the Assassins, but because the Templars showed him the true way to achieve something. We think that Shay is almost blinded to the truth by the Assassins, mainly because of the events that happened in Lisbon, and he tends to blame the assassins for it. I guess that’s why he refuses to ever side with them ever again, and doesn’t want to take nor see their point of view of things. Shay wants this world to be a better one, and he hopes to achieve that goal with the Templars, and just moments before Liam’s death, Shay states that he wants to “…make this world a better place.”.

R- Regret- what they regret most in life

Not being there for the people he cherished. For example, not being able to spend as much time with his S/O and child later on in his life. We think that Shay regrets ever letting Liam drag him into this war between the Assassins and Templars, we think that Shay did not want anything to do with that, like ever. He only wants to live a normal life, a life where he could be free of this war, mainly the internal war that has been haunting him since that traumatizing day in Lisbon. But then, the man is really good at hiding his feelings, and he has accepted his fate (or well, he makes his own fate/luck) whether he liked it or not. He must have regretted touching the artifact in the first place too.

S- Strength- where they find their strength

Shay would already be considered a strong man, he can fully depend on himself and doesn’t really ask nor need anyone’s help. However, if there’s someone whom he trusts and hold dearly, then that would double their performance, allowing him to feel stronger and well…more confident. The Templar cause, and of course, Colonel Monro, gave him a new hope, that he can still turn things around. The damage has been done but Shay remains to prevent even more from happening. From that moment on, that was his new Creed, longing to be carried out and fulfilled.

T- Test- something that will test them to their limits

For Assassin Shay, his patience and discipline. For Templar Shay, the death of his allies, the death of innocents, and the death of those he once called his friends.

U- Unbelievable- one thing that they experienced that they still have a hard time believing was real

Okay this one is quite obvious really, we think it would be both, the events in Lisbon and the fact that his friends turned on him almost…immediately. So yes, we guess that’s one thing that he still can’t process thoroughly. Maybe over the years he will sort of brush it off whenever it tries to consume him again, but it’s still one of the things that traumatized him the most. Especially the fact that his closest friends, Liam, and Hope turned on him as soon as he disrespected Achilles, there was no chill at all, they didn’t even stop to listen to him. Also, Liam was his childhood friend, so losing someone that precious in life is really saddening, especially that they have shared many memories together.

V- Vengeance- have they every wanted vengeance on someone

Yes, obviously, he would want to have vengeance on someone who either hurt him, or someone who took something that was considered valuable to him. In this instance, this is seen when he goes around killing all of his friends, seeking vengeance from each one of them since they turned on him and all. He bears resentment against Chevalier for the continuous insults, and that counts somehow. (Also when he thought Liam was the one who shot him)

W- Waiting- how good they are at waiting on something/someone

Really really good, the man could wait and go several months for someone whom they truly have feelings for. Yes, it may be a pain in the ass since they barely ever see them, but Shay knows that at the end it’s all worth the wait. Besides, he spends most of his time at sea, and their significant other or anyone else would be waiting for them to come back as well, so we guess it’s fair enough. As we also see in missions and such (at least, when he became a Templar), Shay has grown to be mature and patient. The search for the precursor box was difficult and it took years for him to accomplish the task, but he succeeded after everything.

X- Xenodocheionology (the love of hotels according to some) since they do some traveling, what their favorite hotel was

Hotel? Why pay money when you can stay on your ship? But, if it was really needed then he would hit some tavern for a couple of days before going back to his beloved Morrigan—he just can’t stay away from her for too long. We’re thinking if he wanted some private alone time with his S/O (away from the crew), they would pay for a room.

Y- Yield- one thing that will make them stop what they’re doing no matter what

Seeing their friends/lovers get hurt. Like if someone is taunting them, hurting, or trying to harass them in a way, then Shay would definitely put down whatever he is doing and go and help them out. Another thing would be if Haytham approached him out of nowhere, and he was not expecting it, Shay would usually get up and greet the man, putting everything down—showing respect to his superior. Imagine this though, you walk in his room at Fort Arsenal with nothing but lacy underwear on. Whatever he’s doing, he would immediately stop, walk over to you, kiss you roughly, and pin you against the wall while taking off the remaining clothing. Hhhhnnnnggggg

Z- Zoo- how old they were when they first went to a zoo and what their favorite animal was.

Lol we don’t think zoos existed back then? But if they did, then we guess his first time would have been with his father when he was really young. Like six or seven years old. His favorite animal would have been either the lion or wolf! He’d probably likes penguins too!
