Another watercolour character from @crescencestudio Tar, from the game "Alaris". I had fun using masking fluid to preserve hair strands everywhere! ... I believe I made their eyes too close to each other though...

This project made me realize how little patience I have for watercolour >< I have the tendency to want to go to the next step too fast, when I should wait for the paper to dry some more.

Another watercolour painting, this time it's Kilum, a character from the game "Alaris" by @crescencestudio

I had so much trouble with the skin tone! At some point I really thought I had wrecked the painting with my layers of colours. I was ready to scrap the whole thing when I told myself: "Let's pretend we're still at the "ugly stage" and continue working on the skin a bit more; I got nothing to lose at this point."

Kilum's whole colour palette is hard to replicate with pigments but I think the challenge was worth it!

Long time no post! Picked up the pencil and paintbrush after a long hiatus. It's not perfect but I can call it done.

Painting skin is my bane, really ><  I watch so many videos to try and understand the layering and colours and blending effects ... Mind you it doesn't help that I work on cold press paper with a satin finish. >< (It would work so much better on cotton) I should consider whatever I do in this book as sketches or tryouts and not beat myself too much over the results.

Here’s the thing. Refusing to accept a compliment can be mildly insulting to the person you’re refusing the compliment from.

It’s like you don’t believe them or don’t respect their opinion basically.

I know, I also have self esteem so low that accepting a compliment feels physically painful but basically calling the person who’s complimenting you a liar doesn’t help anybody including yourself.
