“Why aren’t you shooting him first?” Loki asked, curiously, as he stared at the man standing opposite her. He was off to the side, more than content to watch this play out on it’s own. It wasn’t like Alaron needed his help, after all. “Besides, I’m not going to clear your browser history until after I’ve gone through it myself. I’m sure there are tons of wonderful things to be found there!”

1. an everyday note. 

      Written on a scrap of parchment and nailed to a beam supporting the front door of her family’s cottage, a note left for Alaron. Fox wrote it the night before, knowing she wouldn’t be able to see her friend until the next day perhaps. They hardly went a day without seeing each other, it would be strange to be apart, and she had to leave something. It reads as follows: 

      Alaron,         I wish I could’ve told you sooner that I would be absent today and so not able          to join you again to swim in the lake after helping with the autumn harvests.          Papa and I are traveling into town to retrieve medicine for Mama and a gift for          Kyla. If I’m good I may be able to get you a gift as well! We plan to stay only a          night, for the ride is long and hard, and return on the morrow. Mama and Kyla          do expect you to sup with them in my absence, I promised them you would          and Mama even said she’d cook up something you enjoy to eat. Don’t miss          me too much and don’t get into too much trouble without me.                                                                                                                    Fox.

     “Ala, can I ask you something, um, y’know, like some personal advice?” Fox questioned softly. She wasn’t used to asking anyone much of anything that had to do directly with herself, but she trusted Ala, and she wanted to open up at least a little to the woman. “...Do you think Huldra likes me?”

No, but she’s in my “tier 1″ of faves under the ultimate fave of Hamilton. I really don’t dislike anyone in Hamilton, honestly. It’s strange for me.

      “I’ve smiled,” Fox countered, showing a smile as if to prove Alaron wrong. The other was right, she was always right, and Fox knew it. Lies were blossoming, the only real coverage she had in the face of the goddess. Little white lies, they didn’t hurt anyone, did they? How could anyone be hurt by what they didn’t know? 

      She swallowed, starting again. “It’s been a long few weeks, it always is this time of the year, there’s a lot to do. I’ve been too tired to smile.” Again she smiled, breaking eye-contact to look instead at her own knees. This lie wasn’t exactly a lie, there was truth to it. Fox was exhausted, some mornings she could hardly get herself out of bed, but smiling and tiredness had no real correlation in her book. Ala would never know that, however, for Fox would never tell her.
