Sup, heathens - tomorrow is Gisla’s 5 year anniversary.

“So are women…I mean, my father had a trusted confidante, who used to tell us stories when I was a boy, and he was a priest..was it not women who started the immoral ways, in the eyes of your church?” He rolled his eyes. “I still say Odo is an idiot and my ships could beat any of his ridiculous tactics any day, or perhaps, I could run him over with one.” He shrugged. “Do you want me to be that man, get rid of the ugly oaf that fools your father? I mean, he could have an accident, you know.”

Gisla could have very easily pointed out how well he seemed to pay attention to the stories of her God - those he claimed to care so little about. But his next words were much more interesting. “He could...as the head of my father’s army he is in constant danger, and accidents could easily happen.” She noted, a light glint her eyes. He had caught on rather quickly.

Crowns were perhaps the strongest signifiers of nobility, especially royalty, and so they were extremely lavish and intricate and were made of the most precious metals and jewels. Crowns and coronets weren’t particularly restricted to royalty at this time, with noble ladies wearing coronets or mini-crowns as part of their formal dress. They were sometimes set with jewels but were not as ornate as those used for coronations or of the royal household. Women soon adopted them to wear over their veils. Precious and semiprecious stones and enamel were widely used. [x] [x]

It’s not that he hated Odo, he just thought he was so…stupid and unremarkable…and ugly. Was Bjorn judgmental? Sure. But, he was Bjorn Ironside. “Your father is less annoying. I mean, he’s..interesting to put it mildly, but I can deal with him much better.” He nodded. “How is he your father’s most trusted advisor? The man would betray anyone. It is clear that he works his own agenda in a variety of ways, does things that your church, views immoral.”

“Most men do things that the church views immoral.” Gisla pointed out, “Men are of sin.” She added as an explanation. She knew of Odo, she had heard whispers of his doings and saw the look in his eyes when he glanced at her. “Odo gained my father’s confidence by leading his army to victory. But do not doubt my father, he knows Odo better than most.” She added, her father was often underestimated. “He has not found a man better positioned for the role than Odo...perhaps you are to be that man.” She gave a cavalier shrug.
