I don’t usually post much about my actual, real life. Tumblr is my fandom space but my job is at serious risk right now because I work in theatre. Despite the government’s announcement of money for the industry it really might be too little too late for a lot of theatres, including mine. Our industry was the first to close in the pandemic and will be the last open back up again. And you cannot underestimate the value of arts to mental health and wellbeing but also the local economies. Ours brings in over 30 million a year to the local area. Without us, restaurants and hotels will lose trade at an alarming rate and the domino effect will continue from there.

Entertainment was the first thing we all turned to in lockdowns and yet the industry that produces it is on the brink in the UK.
I really hope I keep my job as it is but it’s likely that IF i do, it will be a reduced position and reduced contract. I haven’t slept right since the pandemic began but the last few weeks have just been awful as I and my colleagues ponder the impact on our lives as we face redundancies. I just wish everyone would have followed the guidelines and stayed away from each other early on and then maybe we’d all be in a better position right now to get back to a real normal again.
