Where Are Your Parents? || Megumin, Sukuna, & Narihisago

On the outskirts of the city, in an abandoned sector devoid of most signs of life, a lone girl stood. A certain glint shone in her crimson eye, the one not covered by her favored eye-patch, and her smirk was unmistakable to anyone who knew her. She swished her cape with a flourish and brought her hands in front of her body to firmly grasp the curved, wooden staff and point its red orb center towards the derelict building that had grabbed her attention.
“Heh. How unfortunate. You’ll regret the day that you messed with me, Megumin!”
Nearby, a startled bird cawed while it took to the skies. The girl, Megumin, regarded it thus: “You are wise to flee. However, there is no escape for you, who has dared to slight my name!” She turned again to the building. Of course, there was nobody there; it was completely abandoned. At most, there may have been some spiders hiding away in its dark recesses, but certainly nobody capable of what Megumin railed about.
Still, as she continued, undeterred, a red aura flared up around her. “I shall banish you to the deep, dark abyss.” She took a breath and began focusing the fiery power that flared to life within her, building it, shaping it, honing it in her mind’s eye. “Oh, darkness that enshrouds even the brightest flame, I beseech thee!” A wind picked up around Megumin, growing in intensity as her red aura grew and darkened. Black cape, auburn hair, the hem of her wizard’s hat fluttered in response to the wind, but the girl’s eye remained resolutely transfixed on her target. “Awaken from thy slumber, combine with my deepest crimson! Bring forth thy power, help me to lay waste to all thine enemies! The hammer of justice, swathed in my purest flame, shall now descend upon thy transgressors! EXPLOSION!”
As the final word left Megumin’s mouth, she released the pent up energy all at once at her target. The result sent reverberations shooting through the air and ground for miles as a large cloud of black suffused with crimson rose up where that abandoned house had once been. This cloud expanded and rose, scorching everything in its path indiscriminately, leaving nothing except charred remains and flaming debris in its destructive wake.
“Reduced to ash,” she mumbled contentedly as she fell haplessly to the ground. Energy completely spent in that one explosion, she was now unable to move and accepted her fate. At the very least, she’d had the foresight to put enough distance between herself and the building that the heatwave released by her power didn’t pose a threat.
