Palaces, Nighttime wanders and Water Wars
Yet another one of my classes had a ridiculous field trip, gotta love the classes made up for exchange students. We had a two day seminar/conference in a palace 30 minutes outside of Vienna. Schloss Laxenburg, which is now IASSA...I can't remember what it stands for, nor do I remember what we talked about in the conference as we are not getting tested on it. It was outside of my field of study...so I didn't retain anything, only people from the Technical university or private universities had peaked interest because they will have careers in sustainable energy and use of biomass fuels. It was still fun...ish, except for the second day where Ben and I went out the night before thinking half the class was joining us. We soon realized we were the only ones, so we suffered together alone the next day. The night before was interesting, Tshack had very few of the tuesday regulars and it was filled with Austrians...they discovered our place!! NooOOoo. Also I am officially grudge free... :) I had a bit of a teary goodbye with Hanif...MY EXCHANGE BESTIE. :( At least he is only 3 hours away in Canada, Yay!
After the seminar, I needed to get supplies for the Wet Water War the next day. I found myself a red gun and 200 water balloons...I was ready to leave Team Red Hot into battle. In the evening I had drinks with Marijan and we ended up wandering along the Danube canal for hours...partly because we didn't have a map, just ghetto phones and my terrible sense of direction...oops. ;)
The Wet Water War
This is just as epic as it sounds...no jokes. Assembling in two residences across the city from each other, Team Blue and Team Red Hot readied for battle. As the captain of the Red team, with a smaller residence and maybe fewer friends, I was expecting a team of Spartans and thats what I had. We were slightly outnumbered but it didn't matter, we had spirit. With warpaint and all the red clothing we could accumulate, we headed off to Alte Donau to the battlegrounds. Our first weakness was friendly fire from Vladimir the canadian, anxious for blood. We met the blue team on the train platform and agreed to postpone the battle until we made it to the park.
Limbering up and stockpiling water balloons, we had no rules but just the goal to get as wet as possible. Everyone that was in the park when we arrived looked a little nervous, but realized we were just a bunch of adults engaging in water warfare. We stole their shopping cart, they stole our buckets...it was a loot war. But I realized it was not going anywhere so I changed the rules...everyone was soaked and we had an endless water supply, the battle could go on forever. I said whoever captured the other teams captain wins the whole battle...then I ran the other direction. :D My team was supposed to barricade the bridge to save me, but the blue team made it to me first. They tried to throw me off the bridge until a few guys blocked me in against the railing. Our team won...I think, but ask the blue team and they will say the same thing. Getting into the Danube for a group picture, Joren picked me up and threw me in the river...proclaiming the blue team the winners. We can agree on a tie.
