Mural at the Entrance to old school garden.
RIP School Garden. RIP School Garden Mural.
Hopefully the school construction will be done soon and the new garden will be in the ground and growing. I stopped holding my breath about a year ago.
Did any Olympia area gardeners want scans/photo copies of the garden plans I’ve been drawing for work?
I have 30 different ones. They’re all labeled.
The downside: I need to work on my handwriting a tad.

Not all school gardens flourish. They require time, support, and hard work. And they have the most impact when teachers are extensively trained in gardening curricula. That said, research suggests the effort is worthwhile. When school gardens thrive, they have the potential to many benefits. Learn about them on this post.

Another Educhum question: Looking for a young adult book that has to do with plants, gardening, agriculture, and the like.
Okay, I know that wasn’t really a question…
This is the second year my school is doing a STEAM experience for each grade level. I’m the STEAM leader for 6th grade this year, and I’m trying to come up with something different than what they did last year.
The main thing I keep coming back to is a school garden. The ELA tie in could be something other than a book, but I want to have options.
So if anyone knows of anything that could work, I’d love recommendations!
