Students aren’t limited to subjects based on their school year. They can take whatever they want; if they’re a first year they can take a harder subject if they’ve researched/have knowledge of it beforehand—if they’re a second year or above then they can take ‘easier’ subjects if they haven’t had the chance to do it yet.
Students have around eight classes they need to attend to on their schedule.
All classes have a pre-exam to test how much the student knows about the subject beforehand however.
Students are highly encouraged to go in all types of fields and learn everything, so you aren’t required to focus on a particular subject. Even if you did, that’s not a bad thing either!

Uniforms are made/tailored by citizens from Shui Lianhua Town* with assistance from students in the Fashionista Club*, but they can always make adjustments if the student requests it. As noted here, it’s recommended that you make some sort of sketch or tell the staff how you want your uniforms to look like.
There are five main uniforms for AWI: School uniform, dorm uniform, ceremony uniform, P.E uniform, and lab uniform.
School Uniform.
This is only the default uniform—The school uniform is actually customizable if you want it to be: you can change the sleeves, wear an entirely different coat or get rid of it, remove the gloves, change the skirt length, wear pants or shorts, wear different shoes, etc! Please feel free to do whatever you need, just keep the signature colors.
Some students also find the corset uncomfortable so you can remove that too and wear whatever you’d like underneath.
If you removed/changed the corset and/or coat, the dorm color and/or dorm emblem needs to be somewhere on your uniform. Having both is highly recommended but it’s not necessary.
Uniforms for winged humanoids are backless. It’s for wing practicality. Most avians also remove the coat, if they’d like.
The school insignia needs to be somewhere on your uniform.
Dorm Uniform.
Dorm uniforms are also customizable, as long as it has the associated color palette then you’re fine!
But some dorms do have a certain theme to their uniforms, so please stick to it!
Dorms uniforms are worn in their respective dorms, or when there are inter-dorm events (inter-school too, if AWI ever bothered to meet other schools). Leaders have to wear their dorm uniforms when in meetings as well. However, some students have dorm uniforms that are casual enough that they can wear outside of these conditions.
Ceremony Uniform.
Ceremony uniforms are the typical witch outfit! Admittedly some students customize them to look more like a black wedding dress but that’s alright. Once again, you may design it however you want.
The dress is required to be long and flowy to give off the feeling of elegance; at least past the knees. Your dorm color must also be somewhere on the dress.
You can choose between a trademark witch hat, cloak, or veil. Or even combine any of them.
Ceremony uniforms are worn during the Entrance Ceremony and for any of the Rituals. Sometimes students just wear the ceremony uniform for fun though, like when dancing or acting in their clubs!
P.E Uniform.
Anything works for a P.E uniform. You want to wear a regular t-shirt with some pants? A track jacket? A sports bra? Shorts? Long-sleeve? Go ahead then! It needs to have your dorm emblem and color though.
Hair is required to be in an up-do, like a ponytail. You wouldn’t want hair in your face when doing sports or running after all!
Lab Uniform.
The only uniform that’s not customizable due to lab safety reasons.
Long sleeves, pants, and gloves are required, and your hair needs to be put up just like in P.E. An apron or lab coat will do just fine.
GEMS ! ☾⋆。° ✧
Arcane Witch Institute’s gems are put into a Triple Goddess brooch and are one of the items given to you after you’ve been sorted into your dorms.
Admittedly these gems don’t really do anything other than act as a “container” for your magic and to also show that you’re a student at AWI, but they’re pretty nonetheless don’t you think?
Please feel free to put them anywhere on you! A lot of students like wearing them as accesories, such as necklaces, rings, chokers, hair pins, bracelets, etc. meanwhile others like to put them on their own personal weapons (Vitaking’s dorm leader, for example). Yes, you can put them on your pen or a wand.
If it’s not in a wand or pen, then casting spells (especially larger ones) can be much harder...Which is exactly the point!
Gem colors:
Rubicarte - Ruby
Vitaking - Amber
Cesealia - Lilac
Cobralmas - Maroon
Giftschnee - Violet
Nekroskull - Cobalt
Reveaute - Forest Green
Shui Lianhua Town and clubs will be discussed in another post.
Arcane Witch Institute, or simply AWI, is an all-girls four year private academy that is modeled after and worships the Great Seven.
The students here are taught to expand their magical prowess and education, learning many different spells to be just as powerful—if not more—as the great ones they admire. Granted, a lot of spells taught here are often of the forbidden or harmful genre, but that doesn’t really matter. Witches aren’t limited by anything here!
Students are also taught to handle more responsibilities since they’re an adult already, though that may stress out the students just a bit more than the school intended.
Just like Night Raven College whom they consider themselves the “sister school” to, Arcane Witch Institute too has seven dorms following the same principles.
Rubicarte, founded on the severity of the Queen of Hearts.
Vitaking, founded on the persistence of the King of Beasts.
Cesealia, founded on the compassion of the Sea Witch.
Cobralmas, founded on the deliberation of the Sorcerer of the Sand.
Giftschnee, founded on the tenacity of the Beautiful Queen.
Nekroskull, founded on the diligence of the Lord of the Dead.
Reveaute, founded on the elegance of the Witch of Thorns.
The school population is lower than average, around 200 or possibly even less. There’s an estimate of around 28 students in each dorm.
Student IDs aren’t actually needed. They’ll know whether you’re a student or not. Trust me.
The school only accepts those that identify as female, AFAB non-binary, or transfem people. Yes, there are males here, but they are not students at all.
The academy doesn’t really have any rivalries with NRC or any other schools, surprisingly. They don’t interact or collab much with other schools either for any school-related events or otherwise. Maybe it has to do with the fact that not a lot of people know AWI even exists.
There is very little public information of the school. The few people that has some knowledge of it’s existence only knows that it’s an all-girls academy, nothing else; even the location is unknown.
The students themselves are prohibited from talking too much about the school in public, to other people outside the school, or posting about it on social media. In fact, the school created an entire social network just for themselves, so only other students and staff can see what’s being posted. Any club or business from here doesn’t outright say that they’re associated with the school either. Some of the students themselves never seem to have heard of this place before they got invited.
There’s a reason why Arcane Witch Institute is considered to be just a random myth or made-up story about a school that “never existed”.
The school building is that of a giant castle, fitting for a school that follows after those of mostly royalty.
The weather here is pretty normal and go-with-the-flow! It’s never too cold or too hot, but sometimes the elemental fairies change it up either because of their emotions or if they just—want to change it I guess. Nighttime can get incredibly dark, though.
Despite how huge the school is, the inside is even bigger if you can believe it.
Every place in the school is built to be wide and huge, with high ceilings. Yes, even the classrooms. These are designed for the familiars that are required for the students to have as some can be rather large, not for the students themselves. However, the rich furniture is pleasing and comfortable to many of the students.
There are some rumors about the school being haunted...That makes a lot of students pretty uncomfortable.

Dorm locations, Enchanted Forest locations, and village associates locations will be in their respective posts.
A letter and a few paperwork is sent to you, alongside a black witch dress, randomly showing up on your desk.
“Greetings [Name]! it is with great honor to announce that you have been invited to attend Arcane Witch Institute. The Headmistress has noticed your potential for greater magical prowess, and would like to help train you at this academy. Before you is a dress that you must wear for the entrance ceremony.
Alongside these letters, we would appreciate it if you could fill out the student form and tell us more about you so that we can decide on your classes and dorm. Please complete them as soon as possible, they will return back to the school on their own once you’re done. We’re excited to hear your reply!
Sincerely, Miss Collector.”
A portal will be opened the next day for you to send any luggage that you want. A small purple vial will appear on your desk too, to which you’ll need to take. You needs to be wearing the witch dress before you drink it, however. And now, your eyes shut.
ENTRANCE EXAM?
There is no test or entrance exam that students need to pass to see if they are “truly fit” or “truly ready” for this school. The people that this school picks are all intelligent and powerful in their own right after all, She knows they are!
If you have received an invitation from the school—from the Headmistress—then that is enough to say that you’re worthy. Do not question the Headmistress’s judgement.
ENTRANCE CEREMONY + DORM SORTING.
Upon awakening from your slumber, you will find yourself on a soft bed. The room is small, with a single window that is too foggy to look out from. There’s a goblet resting on the table with a strange liquid in it, which you will need to take with you as you leave. Following a glittering trail will help lead you to the Witches’ Covenstead, where the sorting takes place.
The Witches’ Covenstead is a giant greenhouse. In here are the other students for the ceremony, and you can see the moon shining up high through the transparency of the greenhouse. There are empty rows of dirt for the new students; the liquid in the goblet will be poured to water the row. The water will change color as it goes into the seeds to make it grow.
Either roses, alstroemerias, coral flowers, jasmines, calla lilies, chrysanthemums or commelina flowers will bloom. The Headmistress will then announce the dorm thats been decided for you.
However, if none of the listed flowers bloom for you, then…well, you’ll find out.
You cannot change to a different dorm once you’ve been sorted; there are no exceptions to this. The Headmistress’s choice is absolute.
BEFORE THE FIRST DAY.
Students have two weeks prior to stay in the school to get used to the environment and Shadow Servants. There’s a tour every day by the Welcoming Committee, but maps are still handed out to the students if they understandably still don’t really remember or understand things. Of course, the first thing the Welcoming Committee will do is show you to your dorm room.
It’s also recommended that you give some sort of sketch for, or at least tell the staff, how you want your uniforms to look like, unless you’re completely fine with the default uniforms.
Students need to choose a familiar before the two weeks are over, as they are required for your magic classes. If you’d like to know more about familiars and magical creatures, please click here.
There are a few items that need to be given to you before your school life actually starts:
Your magic gem and brooch.
A Personal Wardrobe.
Your new schedule.
Everything else is up to you until school starts. Have fun, new witch. Bloom well.
Some of the Great Seven were known for having an animal companion to assist them with their needs, whether it be for magic or for their own personal matters. So, as a way to accommodate that, the students at AWI are required to have a familiar!
A familiar is a witches’ greatest companion, as they assist the students in their practice of magic at this school. Not only that, but familiars can be used as conduits to help perform more powerful spells, either by allowing the familiar to do most of the fighting or by combining the student and familiars’ mana together.
The familiars here are usually beasts that have magical properties—it’s rare for a student to have a regular animal or house pet as their familiar but it’s not unwelcome. If you have your own animal companion before you came to AWI, then they’re allowed to be here. Please don’t worry about the magical creatures harming them!
Magical creatures are normally found in the Enchanted Forest, but they also live in both of AWIs associates, such as the Great Tree in Siguan Ki or in the waters of Shui Lianhuā.
Most magical creatures however are much more hostile and/or wary of others that they don’t recognize; especially if they’re first years or men.
There are multiple ways to gain a familiar:
Simply pick one. Randomly. The staff will allow it. Doesn’t matter why you pick them, it just depends on what you want.
There are a couple beasts that you can fight. If you manage to defeat them, then they’ll submit to you as a sign of respect.
While this is rare, the magical creature can appoint themselves to you own their own.
Even more rare than the last one: a small amount of students have been known to actually make their own familiar through magic.
Changing familiars is not allowed. Stick with them to the very end.
Once you have chosen a familiar, a Witches’ Mark will appear around your wrist to signify the bond. The Mark depends on whatever dorm you got sorted into: it can be a heart, claw marks, a shell, fangs, a peacock feather, fire, or a spinning wheel.
Trained familiars are taught to be very nice and considerate to the students; of course, this doesn’t mean that there aren’t trained familiars that are mischievous and a bunch of pranksters; the smaller ones are especially guilty of it.
The companionship between a witch and their familiar is extremely important. You are not master and servant, you are allies. Keep that in mind. There strictly should not be any sort of power imbalance or abuse on either side; if the staff finds out this is happening, the student will get suspended or the familiar would be restrained until further notice.
Students are allowed to have their familiars accompany them, hence why the school is built to be so large. However, there are some familiars that prefer to stay in their own personal homes or their witches’ dorm.
All familiars are given the ability to speak; it’s much easier to communicate with everyone, especially their witch companion. They are also given a transformation potion that allows them to be human, which is optional to take.
However, if a magicless person somehow manages to interact with them, magical creatures will make noises just like any other creature. It makes it harder for them to communicate, but some trained familiars do know how to lip-read and write so they do that instead.

Multiple errands are given every day and you start working immediately after you’re an official member.
Tinker Club - It’s a sculpting and engineering club! The leaders are the tinkering little people. This club is held in Siguan Ki Town.
Volleyball - In all honesty, this is actually a ‘train your hand to very aggressively slap people by practicing it on a ball’ club.

Writing Club - For those who want to become aspiring writers and novelists!
Zen club - A club for concentrating and meditation, to relieve yourself from the stress. This club is held in Shui Liánhuā Village.
More clubs may be added, but for now I’m satisfied so. Lol.
“Them? Ah, they are our Shadow Servants! They help us all around this school, please do ask them if I’m not available for you.”
“…Shadows? Those aren’t shadows at all. Those are corpses that were talking.”
“Oh…My dear lady, you shouldn’t call them such a demeaning thing when they’re listening.”
Shadow Servants are staff controlled by the Headmistress and her assistant to help students in any and every way. Most of the time they follow orders and requests obediently without complaint, or just offer help to the students unconditionally.
However some of them aren’t complete pushovers. Sometimes they don’t let students use them to go the easy way out if they feel like the students could learn a lesson, if the students have been relying on them too much, if they know other students that can help them just as much, or they just don’t want to. Plus, they find it funny to watch the students suffer for a bit.
Some servants have fixed jobs such as working in the library, while others can be anything that you ask them for. The latter servants are average in everything at least. As they are shadows, they also have unlimited access to anywhere and can move freely to wherever they want. They’re not limited to the school, they’re just at whatever location the students are. But if they’re in a public space, they don’t really…show themselves.
Because of the above, that means they can also transport people to any location really easily.
They can even be simple conversation partners! They’re great listeners and are very nice most of the time, please don’t be intimidated by their...appearances. Come talk.
The Headmistress is highly against them getting attached to any of the students. If they get attached to one, that wouldn’t be fair to others—They’re not supposed to have any morality or bias after all. So please don’t think they dislike you just because they don’t outright call you a friend~
But! They would be very shocked if you consider them as friends.
Shadow Servants come in all types of appearances! Most of them prefer to have a humanoid appearance, but some like to be actual shadow people, some are ghosts, some are literal shapeless blobs or slimes, etc. However, those with a humanoid appearance are really grotesque for some reason. It makes them come off as unintentionally scary and intimidating when really, they’re not like that at all most of the time! The Headmistress is horrible for giving them such a look…Or maybe it’s just because they’re all dead?
They do have names, but they wouldn’t get offended if you refer to them as Servant no. 1 or any other nicknames.
They are loyal to the Headmistress the most. Her orders come first and foremost before everybody else. …Even if they don’t want to go through with it.
