Kids compete for Google doodle prize

One lucky child will have his or her Google doodle displayed on the google.ie homepage for 24 hours next April. The winner of the annual Google for Doodle competition will also win a €5,000 college scholarship, a Chromebook laptop for the child and his/her teacher as well as a €10,000 technology grant for the school.

Children have until December 10th to submit their creative imaginings of the iconic Google logo. The search giant is looking for entries from school kids of all ages based around this year’s theme of ‘My Invention’. The drawings will be judged in 5 groups:

1.       Junior Infants, Senior Infants

2.       1st Class, 2nd Class

3.       3rd Class, 4th Class, 5th Class, 6th Class

4.       1st Year, 2nd Year, 3rd Year

5.       Transition Year, 5th Year, 6th Year

The panel of judges which includes Ireland and Leinster rugby start Rob Kearney will select 15 finalists in each class to be displayed on the Google4Doodle website and the winners of each class will get a Chromebook for themselves and their teacher. Students can enter the competition here.
