Tug-of-war? I'm insensible.

I was completely unaware of the consequences I might carry when I started to take up AB Journalism as my course and somehow a training ground for the future. When I was in my high school days, I never had the mere chance to be a part of our school publication, The Mango. I still remember myself exhilarating every time they publish a freshly printed newspaper and be absorbed in every article they've put their hard work into. I can't understand why some people bother to receive those piles of paper, when they can't even appreciate such things and just let it fly through suspended air and onto the trash bin.

If I'd go back in that definite time, maybe I could be a little more of a believer of myself and could have push my boundaries further. Since we're living in a realistic world, the past couldn't be resurrected. I reckon before entering the mighty gates of college life, I would certainly attempt to at least give our school publication, The Gazette, a try. A try wouldn't hurt that much, wouldn't it?

I became immersed how college works. Everything within me was in anew. Everything was served in a silver platter, but I chose to eat with an ordinary plate. In short, I didn't even seek to set foot in their office and ask what, when, and how to become one of them. I had this mindset where a small taint can ruin the self-esteem I'm building. I was scared of utter fiasco.

Life went on and on for me. It wasn't a surprise that some of my block mates where a member of the school pub. There weren't any envy to begin with. First semester walked by, then we're here studying for the second semester. Then there's sign that led me back to a chance that once fleet. A friend told me to be a contributor to the newspaper. Everything was bright and shimmery. A hope to just see my name on the newspaper. Co-students reading my writing.

A sign was just a sign that was never meant to be fulfilled. The school publication had to be suspended; with all those layers of chain and more than three padlocks. My other friend, elaborated why the school officials had to do that. It was vague and immature. A block mate that recently transferred to our section, stood up one morning explained, "We need you. Help us save our rights---everyone's rights. If we're too scared now to be against the authority, what more in the future? We (The Gazette) have been experiencing this for years and years. And every year, we manage to get out of the hole. This won't be an exception. School publication shouldn't be clearing the image of the school, thus, show what is the truth."

As for the title, my mind is playing tug-of-war. I salute his passion for everything. He also said that if they won't bring back the publication and form a new one, he would certainly transfer school. I don't know if I'm playing blind and deaf at the moment. It's such a mess right now, I have no idea what to do or should I sit and watch as the situation continues to flame. I didn't knew state university publications were like this at the first place.
