Oh. My. God.
I bought the Green Smoothie Pack and the Strawberry Banana (desperately wanted to try all three, but allergic to mango, so....).
The Green Smoothie Pack is 2 bags of pre-diced pineapple, peaches, broccoli and kale. It’s frozen in little cubes, you dump a bag into your blender, add liquid (I used a cup each of apple juice and orange juice), and puree until smooth. It made a BIG cup, of bright-green slush, and I won’t lie, a little afraid to try it.
Ohhhhhhhhh, it’s so good. If this is what Dummy makes all the time, I need a Dummy. Oh my god. No vegetable taste AT ALL, and it’s delicious, and I’m so thankful I don’t get brain-freezes, because I’m sipping it continuously on a straw as I’m typing this.
Ohhhhhhhh, so good. nom nom nom.
10/10, A++, would recommend, will buy again, delicious.
Schwan’s certified gluten free brownie bites are pretty good. They work out to $.75 a brownie, which isn’t too terribly bad for a two-bite brownie. I guess. I’ve been pricing GF stuff for so long, I have a bit of a disconnect on baking prices (like, “$15 for five pounds of flour isn’t too bad!” has come out of my mouth). They have a nice chocolate flavor, and actually have structure, unlike other GF brownies I’ve tried that have either crumbled to dust or melted into mush.
They definitely won’t be a regular purchase, but as an occasional treat, not bad.
Companies that once fought school-lunch standards are backing down now that their whole-grain cinnamon rolls and reduced-fat pizzas are bringing in the profits. Now they want to avoid more change.
Many companies, such as Schwan's, that once vigorously fought key elements of the initiative to trim sodium, fat and calories from school menus have actually done a bang up business since the requirements took effect by adapting their products for the $10 billion market.
And now that they have won acceptance for retooled recipes — among them, whole-grain rich Pillsbury breakfast cinnamon rolls, reduced-sodium Schwan’s Big Daddy's pizza and reduced-fat Doritos — some food makers don’t want the rules to change again as Congress works to reauthorize the law that expires Sept. 30.
An unholy marriage of Capital & State.
Confession #5
I think I have eaten about 11 or 12 Sundae cups in the past two days
Just applied at Schwan's for package handler and sales associate trainee. Fingers crossed for the latter.
