I’m working on some interconnected short stories about my ancient Schwinn Varsity, called The Bicycle Diaries. When I was 10 years old I earned half the money with odd jobs and my father chipped in the other half. As I recall it was $89.95 with chrome fenders. A lot of money in 1966/67. I rode that bike everywhere. In the 8th grade a buddy of mine and I rode our bikes up to Mt Hood and to the Oregon coast, solo. (My first road trips.) What parent in their right minds would let kids do that now? I put thousands of miles on this thing over the years. Then I bought my first car… It’s been a few years since I’ve ridden it. I hang onto it for sentimental reasons I suppose. And now it’ll be immortalized in some short stories. #schwinnvarsity #indieauthor #indieauthorsofinstagram #angryfilmmaker #indiefilmmaking #roadtrips #bicycletrip https://www.instagram.com/p/CeRmdYYPyrf/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
